To complement the new LG G5 smartphone, introduced at the Mobile World Congress 2016, in Barcelona, LG Electronics also announced its new LG Tone Platinum (model HBS-1100) Bluetooth headset, designed in cooperation with Harman Kardon. The new headset uses balanced armature drivers, and is the world’s first Bluetooth headset equipped with Qualcomm’s aptX HD codec, delivering wireless 24-bit audio.

LG Electronics (LG) unveiled its newest addition to the Tone wireless headset series, the Tone Platinum, during the Mobile World Congress 2016, in Barcelona. Not only does the new wireless stereo headset feature sleek and ergonomic curves for longer hours of use, but the new Tone Platinum was designed in cooperation and using technology from Harmon Kardon, providing powerful sound optimization, clear voice and vocals and full-bodied sound.

“We are excited to collaborate with LG on the LG TONE Platinum,” said Michael Mauser, executive vice president and president of Harman's Lifestyle Division. “Harman Kardon has over 60 years of experience creating premium audio and ground-breaking sound technologies. When a product like the LG Tone Platinum carries the Harman Kardon name, it is confirmation that the device will offer class-leading audio quality and outstanding design.”

Similar in concept to the popular LG Infinim wireless headset, updated this year, the new Tone Platinum was designed for both music lovers and professionals alike. It allows up to 10 hours of music time and 11 hours of talk time and features user friendly controls to easily navigate music play options, manage calls and power the headset. Inside the aluminum earphone housing, the headset also features balanced armature drivers for better sound performance.

The Tone Platinum also features Qualcomm’s aptX HD latest audio codec for high-quality audio transmission over Bluetooth. This latest iteration of the former CSR technology faithfully reproduces the full audio bandwidth and minimizes latency by significantly reducing the bit rate – all without affecting sound quality. The Tone Platinum also offers noise canceling dual microphones for clearer calls – and uninterrupted conversations – even in the noisiest environments.

The Tone Platinum headset also comes with Voice Command to handle incoming calls just by voice and the Tone & Talk app now supports Voice Memo and Find Me via any Android smartphone (version 4.1 and higher).

“The LG TONE Platinum is a showcase of innovative technologies that aims to deliver premium sound quality in a form-factor that millions of customers have come to embrace,” said Michael Park, vice president in charge of Innovative Personal Devices Business Division at LG Electronics. “LG’s Tone offerings are second to none in the wireless Bluetooth world which is a key growth area for our mobile business."

LG plans to make the Tone Platinum available in the United States in March 2016, followed by other key markets in Asia, Europe and Latin America.
