Martin Audio Gears Up for Prolight+Sound 2016

March 2 2016, 04:00

British sound reinforcement specialists Martin Audio are anticipating an exciting presence at the Prolight+Sound show in Frankfurt. Martin Audio promises to showcase exciting new product series — both on their new stand and, for the first time, in a dedicated demo room. This follows the introduction of weatherised variants of its CDD install series, announced at ISE 2016.

It’s all change for Martin Audio at this year’s Prolight+Sound. Not only the Frankfurt event will start on a Tuesday for the first time, with new opening times, but Martin Audio will be occupying the relocated Sound hall (Hall 3) with a brand new stand (3.1, B71). They will also have a demo room on site for the first time (Hall 4.2, Brillanz Room).

The company promises to showcase brand new product series — both on the stand and in the demo room, with sessions taking place in the latter location, running for half an hour daily, Tuesday through Thursday, at 11am, 12pm, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, 4pm, 5pm and 6pm.

Says Martin Audio marketing director, James King, “We’re excited by this year’s Prolight+Sound as it’s the first time we will have our own dedicated stand plus another first in having a demo room on site. This will be crucial as we have a major new launch planned for this show targeting the live sound and installation community, and with 21 sessions of demos scheduled we are expecting to impress over 1000 attendees.”

Martin Audio Introduces CDD Weatherised
Announced at ISE 2016, Martin Audio has extended its award-winning CDD install speaker series with the introduction of weatherised variants (CDD-WR), which will start shipping precisely in early April, before the Frankfurt show.

The CDD Series features patent pending Coaxial Differential Dispersion technology which delivers improved coverage and consistency, with often the need for fewer speakers than those with traditional fixed dispersion X° x Y° horns. This leads to significant benefits across the installation value chain.

The recent announcement means that the CDD Series will now also be available in weather-resistant form. Like the majority of weatherised speakers on the market, CDD-WR loudspeakers are designed for outdoor operation where the system will be subject to changing environmental conditions, but sheltered from direct exposure to the elements. CDD-WR loudspeakers meet a rating of IP54, and are accompanied by a full range of weather-resistant mounting brackets.

The loudspeakers feature a weatherised water resistant grille made from zinc plated mild steel with a powder-coated finish. CDD5TX-WR and CDD6TX-WR feature a dual cable gland for easy daisy-chaining of cabinets without the need for external breakout boxes, and also feature a 100/70v line transformer. CDD8-WR through CDD15-WR feature a single cable gland on the input cover and CDD10-WR through CDD15-WR are also flyable with stainless steel fixings.

Similarly, the CSX-WR subwoofers in the series are suitable for outdoor under-canopy operation and have an IP24 rating. They feature a zinc plated mild steel grille with powder-coated finish, plywood cabinets with polyurea finish and are flyable with stainless steel fixings.

Following the announcement, Martin Audio Product Manager, David Morbey, commented, “CDD is quickly becoming the ‘go to’ install range around the world for nightclubs, restaurants, bars, hotels, retail stores, conference spaces and houses of worship. Architects are happy with the combination of discreet design and the need for fewer speakers; integrators are happy because they offer exemplary performance and win more jobs with competitive tenders; and the quality of coverage and consistency not only delights the client but also their clientele. Now with the introduction of CDD Weatherised we can extend those same benefits to outdoor environments including outdoor stadia, transport hubs, concourses and theme parks.”

Martin Audio took full advantage of this year’s inaugural four-day ISE Show in Amsterdam, showcasing the new weatherised CDD-WR installation series products in a live demonstration. During the course of the show, over 800 people were taken through the live demonstrations across 14 sessions, covering CDD, O-Line and MLA Mini. In addition, the separate stand was busy throughout the period with many new enquires taken for its portfolio.

Director of Marketing, James King, says, “CDD5 was perhaps the jaw agape moment for most demo attendees — such is the performance and clarity of such a tiny enclosure — but the entire CDD range reaffirmed why it has become the ‘go to’ install range. We’ve already sold over 5,000 boxes and the enquiries emanating from the show suggest the next 5,000 is just around the corner.

“Architects are happy with the combination of discreet design and the need for fewer speakers; integrators are happy because they offer exemplary performance and win more jobs with competitive tenders; and the quality of coverage and consistency not only delights the client but also their clientele. Now, with the introduction of CDD Weatherised, we can extend those same benefits to outdoor environments including stadia, transport hubs, concourses and theme parks.”
