The Capital Audiofest - August 28-30, 2015 - is the Washington DC Metropolitan Area and Mid Atlantic Regions most comprehensive quality audio event. Striving to become the East Coasts premiere event, the show now takes place at the Hilton Hotel in Rockville, MD.

At the 2015 Capital Audiofest (CAF) visitors will be able to find 38 demo rooms and more than 116 vendors presenting hundreds of new, classic and bargain products. Visitors are invited to share their personal listening setup, try out all kinds of equipment or just come to chat with people passionate about headphones.

2015 Capital Audiofest will also feature several special events   including a lecture by Bill Hutchins of LKV Research (Friday 2:30pm) about “Preamp Design: Why I choose to design with discrete components and don’t use op amps or loop feedback.” Mattew Barton from the National Archives (Saturday at 11:00am and 2:30pm) will be presenting “Recorded Sound at the Library of Congress: A Backstage Tour of the World’s Largest Recording Collection”, discussing sound formats and demonstrating just how good old recordings can actually sound.
Art Dudley and Herb Reichert from Stereophile Magazine will present “Meet the Writers” on Saturday 1:00pm and other presentations are to be confirmed.

Jazz vocalist Lyn Stanley will perform live on Saturday 29th, at 7pm, in the Hotel Atrium Bar.

As for show highlights, visitors can expect to find interesting presentations by Fern & Roby, Gershsman Acoustics, Border Patrol, Triode Wire Labs, Caintuck Audio, Fyssion, Resolution Acoustics, Artisan Audio, Luminous Audio, ModWright, Technics/US, Vinnie Rossi and many others. The updated list is available on the event website.

DCAudioDIY, the DC Area Audio DIYer’s Community will be in room 412 with several interesting projects and a very special debut of a unique amplifier, designed and built by David Berning and Tom Perazella, using the very special Yamaha 2SK77 VFET transistor in place of a tube. The amplifier uses chokes to provide the constant current necessary for high performance class A operation, resulting in far higher efficiency than standard constant current sources. To maintain the retro theme, the power supply is a choke loaded transformer isolated passive supply. As a nod to current technology gain stage power supplies use discrete solid state regulators.
