Fohhn Audio New Generation of Beam Steering Systems Available Now

After eight successful years, Fohhn Audio’s Linea Focus Beam Steering systems have undergone a major update that includes the addition of new innovative features and digital inputs. Introduced at Prolight+Sound 2017 in Frankfurt, the first of these “next generation” models to ship are the Linea Focus DLI-130 and DLI-230 systems designed for fixed installation applications. The new loudspeakers are equipped as standard with inputs for AES/EBU and Fohhn AIREA network, optional Dante or Optocore interfaces, and – as previously – with analogue inputs.

For over 20 years, the German company has developed system concepts that combine innovative design, functionality and first class sound quality, incorporating the company’s own highly developed DSP-, amplifier-, network- and remote control technology. Special focus is placed on the integration of state-of-the-art technologies such as the latest developments in 3-D audio and digital audio networking technology.

Fohhn Audio has been clearly positioned at the forefront of Beam Steering systems with a vast selection of models, from vertical columns arrays to modular solutions for all fixed installations and event sound reinforcement. At par with Dutch pioneers of beam steering Duran Audio (meanwhile absorbed by Harman Professional) and California-based Renkus-Heinz, but with a significantly larger catalogue of solutions, Fohhn Audio is now clearly at the cutting edge of networked sound reinforcement solutions with their updated Linea Audio range.

During Prolight+Sound 2017, audioXpress mentioned specifically the introduction of a new compact Optocore interface, which will enable completely digitally networked solutions to extend from control centers all the way to a specific speaker or even section of a speaker. As the founder and technical director of Optocore, Marc Brunke, confirmed, the new SFX7 Network Interface Controller will be first implemented by Fohhn, extending the ongoing cooperation between both companies.

Linea Focus DLI-130 and DLI-230 systems are high performance line source speakers that can be electronically controlled and monitored. Equipped with eight or sixteen state-of-the-art Class-D amplifiers respectively, and DSP technology specially developed for this field of application, the loudspeakers also contain eight / sixteen coated 4” long excursion drivers.

The new Fohhn Linea Focus DLI-130 and DLI-230 systems have DSP functions available at both the speaker inputs and outputs, can be remotely controlled or monitored using Fohhn Audio Soft, include password protected access control, readout of data from an integrated tilt sensor and a configurable Auto Power Save function.

As with all beam steering systems belonging to Fohhn’s Focus-Series, the loudspeakers’ vertical beam dispersion characteristics can be intuitively controlled, in real time, using Fohhn Audio Soft. Unwanted reflections from the floor or ceiling can therefore be avoided, resulting in precise and even coverage of audience areas.

Primarily developed for fixed installation applications in venues with difficult acoustic conditions, the DLI-130 and DLI-230 are ideal for use in cathedrals and churches, congress halls, exhibition- and shopping centres, airports and railway stations, lecture theatres and conference rooms.
