April 26 2017, 02:50
PreSonus announced a new studio interface, leveraging all the benefits of Thunderbolt 2 and ADAT Optical I/O. The new PreSonus Quantum 24-bit/192kHz audio/MIDI interface delivers up to 26 inputs and 32 outputs, with extremely low latency, including 8 recallable XMAX microphone preamps. With its pro features, flexible software, and abundant I/O, the Quantum serves as a powerful combination audio interface and studio command center that fits into any recording and production environment.

A great choice for a wide variety of recording environments, the new 26x32-channel Quantum is PreSonus’ fastest and best-sounding audio/MIDI interface, taking advantage of the high-speed Thunderbolt 2 bus and a no-frills, direct-to-DAW signal path to achieve extremely low latency. Cutting-edge 24-bit, 192 kHz converters with 120 dB of dynamic range and PreSonus’ recallable XMAX microphone preamps combine to deliver superb audio quality. For more I/O channels, up to 4 Quantum interfaces can be stacked and connected via Thunderbolt to create a monster 96x96 system.

The Quantum offers two combo mic/instrument/line inputs and six combo mic/line inputs, each with a digitally controlled XMAX preamp and +48V phantom power. It also features two 1/4” TRS main outputs, the aforementioned eight 1/4” TRS line outputs, and two independent headphone outs with dedicated volume controls. With ADAT Optical I/O and S/PDIF stereo digital I/O, user can have up to 18 additional digital inputs and outputs for a total of 26 in and 32 out. BNC word clock I/O ensures the Quantum and other digital audio devices operate in tight sync. And PreSonus didn't forget to add MIDI I/O as well.

Designed to be the central hub for any recording studio, the Quantum offers two main and eight auxiliary balanced line-level outputs that are great for monitor mixing. An onboard talkback mic can be routed to any mix, and users can listen to any mix from either of two headphone amps, also getting Mute/Dim and Mono controls.

The Quantum audio interface was designed as an integrated extension of the recording environment, shipping with the PreSonus Studio One Artist DAW software, allowing fully integrated preamp control functions. Most of the Quantum’s features can also be controlled in PreSonus’ free UC Surface control software, allowing the use of third-party recording software and still being able to remotely access the interface's features. To top it off, PreSonus is bundling the Studio Magic plug-in suite free and allowing owners of the Quantum to upgrade to Studio One Professional for 50% off.

The PreSonus Quantum interface is expected to be available in the second quarter of 2017 at an anticipated MAP/street price of $999.95.
