Some of the noise and distortion in your system is caused by poor electrical contacts in the numerous connectors. DeoxIt liquid removes the highly resistive metal oxide layer and other contaminants first, and then DeoxIT SHIELD protects the newly exposed surfaces from corrosion with a film just a few molecules thick. Although DeoxIT is nonconductive, it enhances the electrical contact, thus improving the energy transfer through the connector. If the film's integrity is broken, it "heals" itself, automatically redistributing the coating over the entire surface to reseal the breaks. How will it sound? Improving all the electro/mechanical connections in your system reduces the small amounts of noise and distortion contributed by each contact point. The sum of these can be large enough to be audible and will mask the subtle details you may have worked hard to obtain. DeoxIT is formulated specifically to eliminate contamination whereever contacts meet without solder--PC boards, connectors, sockets (including gold), in audio and electronic equipment, communications gear, and computers. In addition to brushes, lint-free cloths, swabs, and full instructions, the kit contains one 2-dram bottle (about the size of a bottle of nail polish) of red DeoxIT to dissolve away the tough nonconducting layer and one 2-dram bottle of blue DeoxIT SHIELD to provide protective coating.
