September 5 2014, 17:57
Avid announced that customers across Europe are embracing Avid Pro Tools solutions in integration with its new S6 control surfaces to increase operational efficiencies, and collaborate more effectively across their organizations.

Leveraging the best of the Avid’s ICON control surfaces and Euphonix System 5 mixing consoles in a new modular design, the S6 surfaces behaves like a physical extension of Pro Tools’ software, providing an intuitive experience for high-precision editing and mixing control, quick access to plug-ins, surround panning, using multipoint touch-screens and physical controls. S6 features high-speed EUCON Ethernet connectivity, enabling the surface to communicate directly with Pro Tools and other EUCON-enabled DAWs and provide a deeply integrated experience.

Part of the Avid Artist Suite of creative tools for audio production, powered by the Avid MediaCentral Platform (the technological foundation of the new Avid Everywhere architecture), Pro Tools systems complemented by the modular S6 control surface provide audio professionals with a powerful solution for managing workflows in the most demanding production environments at post production houses, recording studios, and educational institutions.

Avid Pro Tools and S6 enable mixing professionals to concentrate on creating the very highest quality content without being limited by their technology tools. Pinaxa Studio, a state-of-the-art music recording studio in Milan, Italy, selected the system to empower their creativity. Pinaxa sound and mixing engineer Pino Pischetola, noted, “Pro Tools | S6 has gone above and beyond my expectations. The new technology helps to creatively inspire me and I’m so happy with my choice. After you start working with Pro Tools | S6, you will not go back to anything else - it really is a new approach to mixing!”

Beyond post production facilities, among the early adopters of Pro Tools | S6 are educational institutions, colleges, and academies throughout Europe including Hochschule der populären Künste (HDPK), one of the largest universities for music and media production in Germany, and SSR, the UK’s first audio engineering school. Pro Tools | S6 enables educational institutions to give students access to the latest industry-standard tools and adapt their curriculum to meet evolving audio production challenges.

According to Tom Aston, technical director at SSR, “Our investment in Pro Tools | S6 underscores our commitment to providing the latest and most industry-relevant technology to our students. SSR has always been a pioneer in education and we’re extremely proud to continue this ethos with Pro Tools | S6.”

“Since its release less than a year ago, the excitement and interest in Pro Tools | S6 has been enormous,” said Tim Hurrell, director of EMEA Audio at Avid. “As one of the newest components of Avid Everywhere, the S6 is already demonstrating considerable success in helping our customers connect more effectively, efficiently, and profitably with consumers. It is elevating their ability to create the best sounding mixes even under the pressure of aggressive project schedules and budgets. We are proud to continue to be the technology force behind Europe’s – and the world’s – most creative and successful audio professionals.”
