JBL expanded its architectural home speaker lines for the custom home-audio installation market at the 2015 CEDIA Expo. The new JBL Studio 2 and Arena Series in-wall and in-ceiling speakers expand the existing models in the line with a completely new design and feature the same waveguide technology from JBL’s M2 Master Reference Monitor.

Harman International Industries, announced two new JBL architectural home speaker lines for the custom home audio installation market. The JBL Studio 2 and JBL Arena architectural lines have a new design that blends into any wall or ceiling, and produce best-in-class sound. These new in-wall and in-ceiling speakers are engineered to complement the existing JBL Studio 2 and JBL Arena loudspeakers, providing several configuration and application options.

“Our new Architectural Series brings proven acoustic superiority through rigorous testing and real-world evaluation to the home custom installation market. These lines bring JBL’s proven, superior technology to give homeowners premium theater-quality sound paired with best-in-class speaker design,” says Sean Barton at Harman. “Designed for the custom installer, the JBL Studio 2 and JBL Arena architectural speaker lines meet homeowners’ needs for theater-quality sound, all while fitting seamlessly into their interior décor. The speakers deliver hard-hitting, yet detail-oriented audio perfection, with advanced adjustable features engineered for unmatched sound and a subtle aesthetic, regardless of location or configuration.”

The new in-wall and in-ceiling speakers offer wide sound dispersion, while the JBL High Definition Imaging (HDI) Waveguide provides flexibility with speaker placement. JBL’s HDI Waveguide technology, which takes its cues from the legendary JBL M2 Master Reference Monitor, combines computer-optimized driver positioning and network integration, in order to achieve better performance and generate lifelike soundstage imaging throughout the entire room.

The Architectural Series’ nearly invisible, zero-bezel magnetic, paintable grill blends into a wall or ceiling, pleasing homeowners and interior designers alike. The XL-2 installation bracket makes for a sturdy, reliable fit in walls up to 2” thick, and its specialty mechanical grip minimizes vibration.

The Studio 2 line features pivoting tweeters made from composite aluminum that target audio directly to the desired listening location. Additionally, the precision of the tweeter audio level adjustment allows installers and homeowners to fine-tune high frequencies by 3dB to suit room conditions and personal taste.

Both new lines were engineered to match the award-winning JBL Studio 2 and Arena component loudspeakers, to complete custom home-theater or whole-house audio applications. The JBL Architectural Series features an advanced crossover network to ensure low distortion and accurate sound reproduction all behind a nearly invisible, zero bezel profile. JBL’s Arena polycellulose woofer cone and soft silk-dome tweeter deliver faithful sound reproduction for music and movies, while the Studio 2 PolyPlas woofer cone and CMMD-lite tweeter provide detailed, accurate sound reproduction and a premium home audio experience.

“With these new lines, we are taking whole-home audio immersion one step further by perfecting the details and compensating for any acoustical configuration,” adds Sean Barton.
