d&b audiotechnik New Y-Series Loudspeakers at PLASA London 2014

d&b audiotechnik has chosen the PLASA show in London (5-8 October) to launch the company’s latest product offering, the Y-Series, a system providing flexible and configurable solutions for small to medium sized sound reinforcement requirements. Selected products from the Y-Series will be at the stand, along with the d&b team who will be on hand to explain why Y is something to be excited about.

The Y-Series loudspeakers are designed to provide flexible and configurable solutions, even in the most arduous sound reinforcement situations. Theatre, broadcast, live shows, corporate and religious events; applications all demanding strict qualities in the performance, look and feel of a loudspeaker. On one side the Y-Series provides medium scale, stand alone or distributed point source solutions, whereas on the other hand the wide spectrum of mid sized line array potential is inherited from its bigger brothers, the V-Series and J-Series.

Flexible horizontal dispersion characteristics and rotatable horns with innovative custom waveguides ensure constant directivity over a wide bandwidth. Dipolar driver arrangements deliver accurate dispersion control, while a deep LF performance is derived from the bass-reflex design. Three point rigging systems are integrated into the arrayable cabinets, even the cardioid subwoofer, together with ground stacking options.

The Yi loudspeakers differ only slightly in cabinet construction and mounting hardware. They are intended for permanently installed performance spaces where the specification is rider driven by the artist or mix engineer’s preferences. Both the Yi cabinets and mounting hardware can be properly colour matched to interior designs and are weather protected for climatically hostile environments.

SSE Audio Group will also be exhibiting d&b products at the PLASA 2014 show. Here, visitors will be able to see the d&b ArrayCalc simulation software, the R1 Remote control software and the d&b amplifiers, namely the D80.

As part of the Professional Development Programme, Oran Burns of d&b GB's Education and Application Support team, will be presenting a seminar entitled The d&b workflow, during which listeners will be introduced to the time saving benefits of the d&b system approach, all the way from planning to simulation and control of the final result.

d&b will also be sponsoring the Award for Outstanding Achievement in Sound, as part of the Technical Theatre Awards presented on Tuesday 7th at stand S40, home of the Theatres Trust Stage. For more information about the
