High quality audio in visually discreet systems are two of the key demands for installed loudspeakers in spaces such as houses of worship, boardrooms, lecture theatres and many other situations. Yamaha’s new VXL1 range column loudspeakers, launched at InfoComm 2017, are based on multiple arrays of the same 1.5” driver which is at the heart of Yamaha’s VXS1ML speaker, creating new sleek and compact smart vertical columns, designed to perform on virtually any space.

The VXL Series is a surprisingly slim line array speaker system that provides outstanding sonic clarity for speech while simultaneously delivering ample low end for high-quality music reproduction. It is an ideal choice for offices, educational institutions, shopping malls, and other applications where space is limited. The lineup includes six models of different size and color, plus a range of options that allow flexible setup in a wide range of environments.

Featuring IP35-rated, paintable enclosures in black or white, the new Yamaha VXL1 series includes the VXL1-8 (featuring eight full-range 1.5” drivers), the VXL1-16 (16 full-range 1.5” drivers) and the VXL1-24 (24 full-range 1.5” drivers). Each speaker is supplied as a Lo-Z unit (a Hi-Z option is available). All models measure just 54mm/2.1” wide by 103mm/4.1” deep, with heights of 480mm/18.9” (VXL1-8), 846mm/33.3” (VXL1-16) and 1212mm/47.7” (VXL1-24). Frequency range and sensitivity is exceptionally consistent across the series.

All models are supplied with a bracket for seamless wall mounting, while the VXL1-16 and VXL1-24 feature dispersion expander switches which allow the lower vertical dispersion of the array to be easily expanded without having to angle the speaker. All models support vertically connected solutions for wider coverage and it’s also possible to connect two units side by side for increased SPL and more focused horizontal dispersion that can minimize unwanted reflections from nearby surfaces.

Optional accessories include a high impedance transformer box and range of alternative mounting brackets. As part of Yamaha’s acclaimed Commercial Installation Solutions (CIS) range, VXL1 series loudspeakers are designed for fast and seamless incorporation into CIS-based audio networks.

“Our VXS and VXC series speakers have become go-to items for a variety of commercial installations around the world, and now we’re ready to add a new type of very slim, high-quality line array speakers to the lineup. The VXL Series follows the compact VXS1ML and VXS3S introduced in February 2017, giving our customers further options for achieving outstanding sound quality in any space without disrupting the environment’s visual appeal,” says Yoshi Tsugawa, General Manager, Yamaha Pro Audio Division.
