Audient Expands EVO Range with SP8 With 8-Channel Smart Mic Preamp

Audient expanded its EVO range of USB-C audio interfaces with the EVO SP8 8-Channel Smart Mic Preamp ada AD/DA converter, a compact unit combining 8 microphone/line inputs, 8 line outputs, and two ADAT I/O connections, allowing it to handle multi-mic recording sessions with ease. Building upon its successful EVO range of audio recording equipment, Audient designed the EVO SP8 to expand the possibilities of its EVO audio interface range for bigger multitrack sessions.

Rational Acoustics and Audient announced the integration between the recently updated Smaart v9 audio and acoustical measurement software and the Audient EVO line of USB-C audio interfaces. The Smaart 9.1 update integrates the controls for phantom power and gain for Audient’s EVO devices - EVO 4, 8, and 16 - directly from within the Smaart interface. Additionally, gain tracking may be enabled to allow for automatic decibel offset recalculation for calibrated inputs.

Audient has been working hard to launch something extra special for NAMM 2020. Not just new products, but a whole new brand. EVO by Audient is a new range of audio interfaces, created by renowned British audio brand Audient, focusing on the user experience and making recordings easier. The EVO interfaces are launching at NAMM 2020, with the 2in / 2out USB audio interface EVO 4 available now, and the EVO 8 available soon after. Both models are USB-C class compliant.

It’s very questionable that anyone would still be on the market for another USB 2.0 compact audio recording interface, given the market saturation and the transition to faster and lower-latency USB 3, Thunderbolt or even Ethernet alternatives already in the market. British company Audient believes there is still a chance and released the iD4, a single-channel unit featuring the company’s Class-A mic pre technology and good quality AD/DA converters for just $199.
