In a rare move for a company that introduces new versions of each product faster than it ever updates anything, Samsung confirmed a software update for its original true wireless earbuds - the Galaxy Buds. The updates, Samsung explained, bring new connectivity features now found on the latest Galaxy Buds+ model, including the ability to automatically filter unwanted noise or selecting an Ambient Aware mode, allowing important sounds from the outside world to be heard.

Harman Confirms Michael Mauser to Succeed Dinesh Paliwal as New President and CEO

Harman, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Samsung Electronics, announced that Dinesh Paliwal will step down on April 1 after nearly 13 years with the company as President & CEO (including ten years as Chairman and CEO of the NYSE-listed Harman International). Harman’s Board of Directors has unanimously elected Michael Mauser to succeed Paliwal, as President and Chief Executive Officer. Mauser will join the company’s board of directors, effective April 1.

Smart speakers are the hottest segment in consumer electronics, and Strategy Analytics has completed a major new survey of the first wave of users, to understand purchase motivations, usage, satisfaction and ownership patterns. The company's research leaves us in little doubt: smart speakers are a hit with the vast majority of people who are now using them (17% of the US screener population sample). Satisfaction levels are typically in the 90% range, and nearly two-thirds of users expect to buy another one within the next two years.
