New Renesas RISC-V Voice-Control ASSP Allows Differentiated Applications with Voice Recognition

Renesas extended its RISC-V embedded processing portfolio with the first RISC-V MCU designed for voice-controlled HMI (human-machine interface) systems. The new R9A06G150 32-bit ASSP (Application Specific Signal Processor), developed in collaboration with RISC-V ecosystem partners, provides a complete, cost-effective, production-ready voice-control system solution that eliminates the need for RISC-V tools and upfront software investment.

Renesas Electronics, the advanced semiconductor solutions supplier, and Cyberon, a leading embedded speech solution provider, have partnered to deliver voice user interface (VUI) solutions using Renesas’ entire RA MCU line. Renesas RA customers will now have complimentary access to Cyberon’s industry-leading continuous command-based VUI toolchain, enabling them to add voice-recognition to a variety of endpoint applications, including home appliances and wearables.

Renesas has announced a new reference design and combined solution for the development of voice recognition applications. The company offers an offline voice recognition algorithm that performs real time control, the Cyberon CSpotter, in a reference design that incorporates a low cost, ultra-low power RA6M1 MCU, a ISL32743E isolated high-speed RS-485 transceiver, an ISL80505 high-performance 0.5A LDO and a PS2561F-1 optically coupled UL approved isolator.

CEVA, a leading licensor of signal processing IP for smarter, connected devices, and Taiwan's leading embedded speech solution provider, Cyberon Corporation, announced a partnership to offer an ultra-low power, always-listening voice activation solution for smartphones, consumer and IoT devices. Cyberon has developed an optimized implementation of its CSpotter voice recognition engine for the CEVA-TeakLite family of DSPs.
