Test Bench: The SB29SDNC-C000-4 29mm Compact Neo Cloth Dome Tweeter from SB Acoustics

This Test Bench characterizes the SB29SDNC-C000-4 29mm cloth dome tweeter from SB Acoustics, a shielded neodymium motor driver with a compact 72mm diameter injection-molded face plate and large surround, featuring a copper cap shorting ring on the pole piece, internal pressure equalization, and a flow resistor for non-resonance cavity coupling. Another characterization of the innovative tweeter designs launched by Sinar Baja, developed by Ulrik Schmidt and Frank Nielsen at Danesian Audio.

The latest product in the growing SB Acoustics Satori high quality transducer range is the 7.5" Satori MT19CP-8 coaxial driver featuring an Egyptian papyrus fiber cone developed and perfected in its own cone/spider facility in Indonesia, matched with a dedicated 26mm high performance soft dome tweeter. A well-engineered driver for refined home audio designs that leverages on the extensive R&D that already characterizes the Satori speaker driver range.

Sinar Baja has announced a new strategy and new product segment organization for its various brands. SB Acoustics will continue to be its hi-fi driver product range, including Satori for the high-end segment, while the new brand SB Audience will represent its pro sound product line available for the international market, and SB Automotive is now its new car audio product line worldwide. Bayz Audio from Budapest, Hungary, will be premiering Curante, an omnidirectional, full range loudspeaker, at the 2018 High End show in Munich. The Curante represents a complete re-thinking of traditional speakers by utilizing the patented Bay Radial Speaker (BRS), a unique “radial tweeter” design by Zoltán Bay, CEO and Chief Engineer, in collaboration with Frank Nielsen of Danesian Audio, and András Voloscsuk of Composite Project Kft.

This Test Bench focuses on SB Acoustics’ Satori high-end line of drivers, the Satori TW29RN. This neodymium 29-mm ring dome features a surround coated cloth ring-type diaphragm, a non-reflective cast-aluminum rear cavity, a two-part aluminum faceplate with integrated mechanical decoupling, dual balanced compression chambers, high saturation neodymium ring type motor magnet with a T-shaped pole and dual copper shorting rings, a CCAW voice coil, a foam mounting gasket, and gold-plated terminals.
