MPEG-H Audio Tested on Worldcup Live Transmissions

Fans around the world that are following the football/soccer worldcup games are probably not aware that those transmissions are creating a new test bed for the possibilities of immersive sound and different personalization options using MPEG-H audio technology. Fraunhofer is supporting its partners worldwide in setting up live transmissions of the tournament in Brazil and South Korea, the two countries that already adopted MPEG-H.

Dolby Laboratories announced the acquisition of Millicast, a developer platform that provides ultra-low-latency video streaming capabilities that scale to massive audiences. Millicast has enabled a new generation of interactive live streaming applications built on WebRTC and end-to-end encryption. By embracing web standards, the Millicast API works with all modern browsers and devices without the need for a plugin or custom player. The acquisition will complement the Dolby.io platform and enable large-scale, highly-interactive online experiences.

VoiceLabs’ new Sponsored Messages service is the first native solution to help Amazon Alexa developers monetize, and invest in the voice-first evolution. Specializing in analytics for emerging applications such as voice personal assistants, VoiceLabs wants to provide brands with the ability to reach and interact with Amazon Echo consumers. The platform will also allow Alexa skill developers to monetize their work, VoiceLabs explains.

Jensen’s new website features responsive design for use on computers, tablets and smart phones, adapting to various screen sizes. Along with updated schematics, application notes and updated interactive features for product and information request, legacy content including white papers and data sheets from the former site have been preserved and remains accessible through the new ‘Jensen Insider’ portal.
