The SB Acoustics TW29BNWG is a great evolution of the Satori TW29BN tweeter. The new high-end 29mm beryllium diaphragm neodymium dome, this Satori driver incorporates a 170mm (6.7") diameter aluminum waveguide, an 8mm wide coated cloth surround, a 29mm (1.14") beryllium diaphragm, dual copper caps on the T-shaped pole piece, dual balanced compression chambers, non-reflective optimally damped rear cavity, and CCAW round voice coil wire. The SB Acoustics Satori TeXtreme range using Thin-ply Carbon Diaphragms (TPCD) has now expanded to four sizes. So far the biggest commercially available TPCD driver using the increasingly popular technology, the SB Acoustics Satori 9.5" woofer with a 2" voice coil, is now available in 4 and 8 ohm variants. The thunder from the extended bass response of the new model WO24TX-4 and model WO24TX-8 woofers will no doubt be soon felt at hifi shows all over the planet.

Test Bench: The MD60N-6 2.5" Dome Midrange from the SB Acoustics Satori Line

This is a Test Bench of one of the most intriguing high-frequency drivers from SB Acoustics' high-end Satori line, the MD60N-6 2.5" dome midrange. This design by Danesian Audio of Denmark, is a soft dome midrange that features a non-resonant coated cloth, and a large neodymium ring magnet with a dynamic dome stabilizer and flow resistor. There is also an injection-molded back-closed transmission line enclosure, filled with Thinsulate damping, mounted directly on the back side, covering its entire surface. Inspired by that design, Metz decided to build his own version, and also explore his own take with an active crossover tri-amp approach using a miniDSP 4x10HD system feeding a dedicated six-channel amplifier using Purifi 425W Class-D units. TPCD is the acronym for Thin-Ply Carbon Diaphragm, which is essentially the technology developed in Sweden by Oxeon to create a new-generation material with properties that are now well-proven for speaker cones and domes. The Satori MW13TX-4 TPCD cone 5” woofer is the fourth TPCD diaphragm transducer to be explicated in Test Bench, and this one has a substantial feature set, including a single piece bowl-shaped TPCD cone and NBR surround.
