Teenage Engineering, Raven and Baidu's Collaboration on New Smart Speaker Concepts

Baidu, a company known as China's search engine is investing heavily in its own voice engine, artificial intelligence (AI), and even hardware technologies, following Google's footsteps. Earlier this year, Baidu acquired Raven, a Beijing-based smart home startup, and the first results of that investment have now been revealed with two voice-activated speakers that run on the company's own AI platform. The design was the result of a cooperation with a Swedish start-up, Teenage Engineering.

New Synaptics and NXP Alexa Development Kit Available at Arrow Electronics

NXP has teamed up with Arrow Electronics, Synaptics and Amazon to develop the Synaptics AudioSmart 2-Mic and NXP Pico i.MX7Dual Development Kit for Amazon Alexa Voice Service (AVS). This newly available development kit is one of the first to be qualified with production-ready system-on-chip (SoC), voice processor, and the AVS Device SDK. It enables device makers to quickly and cost-effectively integrate Alexa into a fully functioning prototype and then take that work into design for manufacturing and production.

The ICS-40212 and ICS-40720 analog output and the ICS-41350 PDM digital output MEMS microphones are approved for use with Synaptics AudioSmart Amazon Voice Services (AVS) solution. TDK also announced the worldwide availability of its SmartMotion Platform encompassing 4 unique development kits with multiple sensors.

Founded in 2010, British company TIBO was one of the brands that had honors of debuting its new Choros Tap on the Amazon booth during the 2017 IFA Show in Berlin. The TIBO Choros Tap was the UK’s first third party, multi-play, multi-connect active speaker supported by Amazon Alexa. The UK is the second largest market for voice-assisted products after the US, followed closely by Germany.
