Vance Dickason measures the Scan-Speak D2008/2010, the revised version of the classic dome tweeter from the Danish brand. The D2010 and the D2008 are two revised classic Scan-Speak 19mm soft dome tweeters, originally launched more than 35 years ago. Scan-Speak basically discontinued production of the original 19mm ferrite magnet soft dome models and replaced them with these new 19mm textile dome neodymium motor versions.

This article details a lifetime project from audioXpress' technical editor Jan Didden. After a successful restoration project of a pair of precious ESL-63 Quad electrostatic speakers, he opted to design and build the eDD, a well-performing high voltage amplifier to directly drive electrostatic speakers. This challenging but successful DIY project with a design goal of 1500V RMS at 20mA RMS over the full audio band, took a while to complete but was a success. This article shares every step of the construction.

sensiBel announced a new successful 7 million Euros funding round with Sennheiser leading the investment together with existing main shareholders TRUMPF Venture, Skagerak Capital, Investinor, SINTEF Venture, MP Pensjon and Halden Kommunale Pensjonskasse. The funds will be used to expand production and invest in scalability of sensiBel’s patented optical MEMS microphones that offer 80dBA SNR and 132dB of dynamic range, a new level of performance for packaged miniature microphones.

FCC Approves Wireless Multichannel Audio Systems in the United States

The Federal Communication Commission (FCC) approved a change in its regulation that now permits operation of Wireless Multichannel Audio Systems (WMAS) in the United States. WMAS is an advanced wireless microphone technology designed to meet the challenges of highly demanding live performance and studio applications. Sennheiser started development work on WMAS over ten years ago and, in August 2018, the company filed a Petition for Rulemaking with the FCC requesting a modification in the bandwidth limit specified for wireless microphones.
