SAR Insight & Consulting Publishes The Voice Algorithm Software Ecosystem Market Report

April 28 2017, 03:10
According to the latest report from SAR Insight & Consulting, strong growth is expected for all voice software, driven by its inclusion in increasing numbers of voice-enabled devices and by the increased use of digital assistants. “SAR has repeatedly discussed the scale and opportunity of the voice tech market,” says Peter Cooney, principal analyst at SAR. “Voice will be the main interface technology for many devices and the opportunities for hardware and software vendors will be huge.”

As highlighted in the report "The Voice Algorithm Software Ecosystem", SAR Insight & Consulting expects total voice software unit shipments to increase from around 11 billion to 21 billion between 2017 and 2022, globally, which will drive demand for algorithms such as far field enhancement, barge-in, and voice beam forming. These will guarantee the accuracy of voice recognition systems.

Companies that are most likely to benefit from the rapidly growing market are component vendors such as Cirrus Logic, Conexant, DSP Group, InvenSense, Knowles, MediaTek, NXP and Qualcomm, which provide internally developed voice user interface and/or voice enhancement software solutions. Third party software vendors such as Alango, DSP Concepts, Sensory, Rubidium, iFlyTek, MightyWorks, and Nuance are also benefitting from the surge in voice controlled devices.

“Voice software technologies are being used in both human-to-human and human-to-machine communication systems,” says Giuseppe Torres, senior analyst at SAR Insight & Consulting. “While acoustic echo cancelation and noise cancelation algorithms are typically found together in most wireless and wired portable electronic devices, the increasing demand for voice-enabled smart home appliances will drive further demand for voice beamforming, far-field enhancement and barge-in algorithms to improve the accuracy of voice controlled devices, implemented with a combination of speech to text and text to speech algorithms.”

These are some findings from SAR Insight & Consulting’s recently published study on "The Voice Algorithm Software Ecosystem", which is published as part of its Audio Devices, Technologies & Components Service. The report provides details on software types, use cases and drivers for market growth, as well as providing insight on current providers, and supplier market shares. It includes a summary report with commentary and charts, and an excel file with detailed forecasts & market shares.

SAR Insight & Consulting provides detailed quantitative and qualitative research on established and emerging technology markets across multiple end applications.
