JBL Professional New EON ONE All-in-One Linear-Array P.A. System

Harman’s booth at Prolight+Sound 2016 attempted to cram all new products introduced at NAMM 2016 in a relatively small space. Still, Harman introduced an additional series of new products in Frankfurt, including the surprising EON ONE all-in-one PA system. Adopting a familiar slim column array over sub design, the EON ONE combines a six-channel mixer and Bluetooth audio.

To see JBL Professional adding this new concept in its popular EON portable speaker series is surprising but makes complete market sense. The all-in-one linear-array P.A. system concept was originally promoted by Bose and elevated to a completely new efficiency level by German brand HK Audio in its revolutionary Elements series. On the other hand, JBL has been experimenting successfully with the vertical array concept for some time and, more recently, acquired Dutch company Duran Audio, whose Axys Intellivox series has been regarded has an established pioneer on beam-steering and vertical column arrays.

With all this technology at their disposal, JBL’s engineering team created the EON ONE system, combining the superior sound quality of a professional system with the convenience and streamlined look of a compact, column-style solution. Featuring Bluetooth audio, a six-channel mixer and a unique design that can be carried with one hand, EON ONE is an ideal portable PA for gigging musicians and DJs, coffee houses, fitness studios, corporate environments and more.

According to JBL the OEN One system is capable of generating a maximum SPL of 118 dB, generating detailed, distortion-free audio. An unobstructed 10” bass-reflex subwoofer delivers tight, accurate low-frequency response that is ideal for DJs and playing back recorded music, while the high-frequency section features JBL’s patent-pending Directivity Control Geometry, which optimizes the spacing and angles of the six two-inch high-frequency drivers. This creates extraordinarily even front-to-back coverage, ensuring that everyone in the listening area hears the sound accurately and consistently.

The built-in, six-channel mixer enables users to connect microphones, instruments, such as acoustic guitars, electric guitars and keyboards, and other sources. The mixer also features bass, treble and reverb controls to optimize the sound. Bluetooth audio streaming makes it easy to play back recorded music from smartphones, tablets and more.

As a practical all-in-one linear-array P.A. system, the EON ONE is easy to carry with just one hand. The high-frequency section and two spacers fit conveniently into the base unit, providing a streamlined package. Users can set up the system in seconds, choosing the right number of spacers to optimize the sound for each application. Two spacers provide a long throw for live performances and large crowds, while a single spacer is ideal for conferences, gyms and medium-sized groups. For small meetings and intimate events, users can place the high-frequency section directly atop the base unit.

“The EON ONE provides a sleek, highly portable solution without compromise,” says Craig Lambrecht, Retail & Recording Solutions, Harman Professional Solutions. “The EON ONE was created by the same engineers behind the breakthrough technologies found in our flagship loudspeakers and reference monitors. We’re excited to bring world-class JBL sound quality to even more musicians and venues through this new form factor.”
