NUU is described as “a global team of designers, engineers and visionaries dedicated to improving the functionality of portable speakers through innovative product offerings.” NUU manufactures Bluetooth speakers that are waterproof, sand-resistant, fully submersible, and perfect for any adventure.

NUU’s two first products, the portable and waterproof Wake and Splash Bluetooth speakers, already fulfilled the company’s vision to design portable speakers for outdoor activities. Now,
NUU announced the Riptide, a 2.7” cube speaker built for any adventure in a really small size and lightweight design, providing for six hours of playtime. With a built-in carabiner and universal mounting capabilities, Riptide can be attached with ease to virtually anything including a belt loop, backpack, kayak or even a sailboat.

“When we created the Riptide speaker, we had outdoor adventurers in mind. We wanted it to serve as the perfect travel companion, while not compromising on high-quality sound,” says Danny Sit, General Manager of NUU. “Riptide is a wonderful addition to our product line and the perfect blend of portability, durability and excellent audio.”

To ensure Riptide is ideal for all situations, it has passed rigorous IP57 testing. The speaker can be completely submerged in up to 3’ of water and is buoyant so it will never be lost at sea and is protected against sand. It features a 3-W neodymium driver combined with a passive bass radiator to deliver clear and balanced sound. Riptide also has a handy speakerphone feature and a built-in, waterproof and noise-cancelling microphone so users can make and receive phone calls with perfect clarity.

Users can connect to Riptide wirelessly via any Bluetooth-enabled device, such as a smartphone, tablet or laptop, using AVCRP, A2DP, Handsfree, and Headset profiles. Riptide can also be used with its built-in AUX-IN and the 3.5-mm input cable that comes included. It can even work with any computer as a USB speaker, using the same Micro USB connector that also charges the speaker’s battery. Riptide costs $49.99.
