Denon Introduces PMA-150H Network-Enabled Integrated Amplifier and DAC

September 3 2019, 11:05
Denon announced its latest high-performance integrated network amplifier, the PMA-150H, directly targeting new generations with the desire to upgrade their listening experience. The compact PMA-150 easily connects all popular digital and analog sources, including CD players, TVs, turntables, and USB devices. Its HEOS built-in technology enables access to music over Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and wired Ethernet using the HEOS app, or streamed directly via Apple Airplay 2 and Spotify Connect.

“Denon has long been renowned for world class audio components, and the PMA-150H integrated network amplifier continues that tradition of audio excellence. It is designed for the audio enthusiast who doesn’t have the space for a traditional full-size component audio system, but wants amazing-sounding audio, support for high resolution wireless music streaming and the ability to connect all of their analog and digital sources,” says Michael Greco, senior director Denon brand management.

“The amplifier is also simply a beautiful piece of electronics, with 5mm aluminum top and bottom panels designed to minimize vibration and support cooling, the vivid OLED screen and diamond-cut volume ring all demonstrate Denon’s attention to quality and detail.”

The new amplifier leverages Denon’s Advanced AL32 Processing Plus analog waveform reproduction technology and powerful Direct Digital Feedback Amplification (DDFA). And every electrical component in the PMA-150H was carefully selected and custom-designed by Denon sound engineers to fine-tune audio performance and meet the highest quality standards. The amplifier delivers a robust 70 Watts of power-per-channel (4ohm, 1kHz, THD 0.1%) and supports both 4- and 8-ohm speakers.

Additionally, it is equipped with a dedicated headphone amplifier circuit featuring a high-speed, ultra-low distortion wideband amp paired with a fully discrete final output stage. To accommodate a wide range of headphones, the PMA-150H has an adjustable headphone impedance control, with three settings for low, medium and high impedance models. The headphone jack offers a 6.3mm (1/4-inch) connector for compatibility with premium home and professional studio headphones. The PMA-150H’s compact design (11”W x 4.1”H x 12.6”D) features an elegant soft aluminum matte top and bottom panels with premium OLED, gloss black and silver accents.

Its built-in DAC supports high-resolution digital audio files like ALAC, FLAC and WAV lossless files up to 24-bit/192 kHz, as well as DSD 2.8MHz and 5.6MHz tracks from digital sources. Users will also enjoy high-resolution audio from a premium onboard USB-DAC that features PCM 32-bit/384kHz and DSD file playback capability. Denon's advanced AL32 Processing Plus is the latest in analog waveform reproduction technology from the Japanese manufacturer, creating a highly detailed audio experience free of interference and richly expressive in the lower range.

In order to support all possible sources, the PMA-150H features two analog RCA inputs, two optical inputs, one digital coaxial input, and USB-A and B inputs. The USB-A input supports WMA, MP3, AAC, WAV/FLAC/ALAC 24/192, DSD 5.6MHz files. From a computer, high-resolution output is also possible via the USB-B input, powering PCM signals up to 32-bit/384kHz and DSD11.2MHz. Additionally, listeners can easily connect CD players, turntables, USB drives, TVs, and more.

With HEOS Built-in, listeners can enjoy music from Amazon Music, Spotify, Pandora, TIDAL, TuneIn Internet Radio, SoundCloud, Napster, Deezer or local music file libraries. The PMA-150H also offers Bluetooth connectivity, providing instant access to online music streaming. AirPlay 2 compatibility ensures users can simply stream Apple Music wirelessly to the PMA-150H, or group the amplifier with other AirPlay compatible speakers to deliver music throughout the home. HEOS Built-in also enables listeners to enjoy multi-room sound, creating a wireless, whole-home audio experience using HEOS speakers, soundbars and/or receivers.

In addition, Denon leveraged its AV receiver engineering expertise to build autosensing into the first optical port and simplified IR learn to easily connect to most TVs. Once enabled, volume, mute and input selection can be controlled via a TV remote.

Works with Voice Assistants
Users can also employ their voice to control the PMA-150H with Amazon Alexa, Apple Siri and the Google Assistant to adjust the volume, skip to the next track, and more. The PMA-150H is now available for $1,099 MSRP at authorized Denon retailers.
