Continuing the expansion of its XR Business Unit, Dirac Research announced the appointment of Peter Cedmer as Head of Product Management, XR Audio. The former Chief Technology Officer of Jays Headphones brings years of audio experience and a valuable consumer perspective to the company’s young and fast-growing XR business unit. Peter will be responsible for managing the company’s current XR product portfolio and developing future product roadmaps.

“Dirac’s XR Business Unit is growing quickly, and it’s essential that we match this expansion with a strategic new hire that has the experience to support our sales and product goals,” says Dirac General Manager & Business Director of XR Audio Lars Isaksson. “Based on Peter’s wealth of industry experience, we are confident that he meets all of our needs. I look forward to working closely with him to continue developing digital solutions that redefine audio for the AR/VR industry.”

Peter comes to Dirac with extensive experience in audio. He spent 11 years at Jays Headphones, where he worked his way up from Project Manager to Chief Product Officer and, most recently, Chief Technology Officer. Before that, Peter served as Technical Manager at ANOVO. Peter earned his Bachelor of Engineering & Electronics from Karlstad University.

“The headphone market is one of the most important and exciting segments for 3D audio,” Isaksson added. “Peter’s extensive experience and vast industry connections will be greatly beneficial to us. Furthermore, his keen knowledge of the consumer point-of-view, refined through his over decade-long tenure at Jays, provides our B2B company with an important perspective as we move into the future.”

Dirac’s XR Business Unit first debuted its 3D audio solution, Dirac VR, in January 2017, where it was met with critical acclaim. Since the launch, the company has undergone a series of 3D audio-specific wins, including a major fundraising round to fuel product development efforts, recognition for Best VR/AR Industry Technology at the Tech XLR8 Award Ceremony, the launch of the second-generation Dirac VR at MWC 2018, its debut into the gaming headset space through a major deal with an industry leader, and now, most recently, this strategic hire to manage the company’s growing XR audio product portfolio.

“3D audio represents the future of headphones, gaming headsets, VR/AR, and more, and no company’s technology is better than that of Dirac,” states Cedmer. “Their scientific and research-based approach to product development has resulted in the company’s emergence as a true pioneer in digital audio across all product categories, and I look forward to joining their already-strong XR team to help pave the way for future market success.”

Dirac VR is a high-end alternative to existing VR audio technologies for 3D sound reproduction in headphones. Using patent-pending Dynamic HRTFs (head-related transfer functions), Dirac VR elevates VR/AR audio to a new level of realism.
