Eleven Engineering Confirms Partnership with Infineon Technologies for MERUS Multilevel Amplifiers

July 23 2019, 09:10
Canadian company Eleven Engineering, specializing in semiconductor products for wireless audio for home theater, multi-room, portable, professional, 12 Volt (car, truck, motorcycle, power sports, marine) and gaming applications, and the developer of the renowned SKAA wireless audio solutions, announced a partnership with Infineon Technologies to promote the company's MERUS multilevel amplifier range.

The Dillinger Labs Aquarius speakers from Eleven Engineeringn are powered by Infineon MERUS advanced audio amplifiers.

Eleven Engineering was an early partner with Merus Audio, prior to the acquisition of the Danish company by Infineon. The Canadian company recognizes Infineon’s range of advanced audio amplifier solutions enabling the development of new products that are able to maximize power efficiency, output power, and audio performance while ensuring the greatest possible design freedom and fast time-to-market. Eleven Engineering products already available which incorporate the MERUS multilevel technology include the Strawberry 3 and Saskatoon “off-the-shelf motherboards”, and the Dillinger Labs Aquarius speakers.

“Eleven Engineering and Infineon Technologies’ MERUS team have worked together for years, jointly enabling customer products, and this partnership formalizes a tremendous opportunity for both companies to fully utilize the technology and marketing strengths of the other for years to come,” explains John Sobota, Eleven Engineering CEO and director. “For instance, our Strawberry 3 off-the-shelf motherboard is the complete package, ideal for speaker systems across multiple platforms, whether it be home theater, outdoor, Pro, studio, and DJ. It integrates the Ginseng SKAA semiconductor and the world-class, incredibly efficient MA12070P MERUS integrated amplifier IC from Infineon. Now, we will be even better equipped to integrate and market our wireless products utilizing Infineon’s incredibly efficient amplifier technologies from this point forward.”

“Infineon’s Class-D amplifier topology significantly increases the battery life of SKAA wireless-enabled products, making them more desirable to customers. This benefit is pretty obvious. What’s less obvious is the cost impact of using Infineon amplification. When you can eliminate costly items from the bill of materials such as output inductors, chassis boxes, and dedicated heat sinks, it makes our joint offerings fantastically attractive,” Sobota adds.

“Besides co-marketing opportunities, this partnership allows engineers and managers from both Infineon and Eleven Engineering to be on the ground floor of the other's design and creative processes," explains Jens Tybo Jensen, Infineon Technologies Head of Marketing & Application Engineering, Class D Audio Products. "This will allow one another to help guide the other in certain aspects of the R&D process, in the end ultimately getting the best possible product to market significantly faster than in normal conditions. This is a great partnership on many levels for Infineon, Eleven Engineering, and, more importantly, for all of our customers, benefiting everyone in both the short and long term.”

SKAA is a brand of wireless HiFi audio products developed by Eleven Engineering. SKAA transmitters work with iOS & Android mobile devices, Mac & Windows computers, televisions, and just about any product with a line output, S/PDIF output or a headphone jack. SKAA is also available as a built-in technology not requiring an external transmitter in purpose-designed partner products, which are featured at SKAA.com. In environments laden with heavy Wi-Fi and Bluetooth traffic, SKAA navigates through these hostile environments with best-in-class reliability and allows for uninterrupted audio signals that are delivered with the highest sound quality to all speakers without latency.

Based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Eleven Engineering, is a manufacturer of microprocessors SiPs (System in Package) and modules designed for wireless audio for Home Theater, Multi-Room, Portable, and Pro Audio products. Eleven's XInC2 multithreaded processor was designed specifically for digital wireless audio applications but is also well suited for other realtime intensive microprocessor applications. Eleven's high-performance wireless audio semiconductors, equipped with XInC2 wireless processor cores, are complete solutions for high-quality digital wireless audio transport. WFD, Eleven's proprietary wireless audio transport protocol, has a narrow footprint in the radio spectrum, delivering both best-in-class coexistence with WiFi / Bluetooth and Quality of Service.
