“Today’s athlete demands zero distractions,” says Jamie Parker, CEO of Jaybird. “That's why we set out to design the most powerful wireless headphones in the smallest and lightest form factor. The result of this obsession is Jaybird VISTA – our lightest, smallest and most durable earbuds to date. With up to 32 hours of single bud use, best-in-class connectivity, stereo phone calls and IPX7-rated waterproof and sweat-proof, the pocketable Jaybird VISTA are the essential totally wireless headphones for every athlete."
Effectively, at only six grams, the Jaybird VISTA is one of the smallest and lightest earbuds on the market, which means more comfort and is certainly a factor in a product targeting active lifestyles and athletes. The compact, low-profile case is also designed to fit in a running stash pocket, making it ready to go in any situation.
On the battery side, the Jaybird VISTA true wireless earbuds deliver six hours of audio on a full charge, plus 10 more in the charging case, for a total of 16 hours of listening. More importantly, a quick five-minute charge provides an hour of playtime. The case is easily charged with the included USB-C cable. By using each bud independently, users can also extend battery life up to 32 hours.
"Durability is essential for athletes. With its unique EarthProof encapsulated construction, VISTA is not only IPX7 waterproof, but also sweatproof and crushproof to stand up to your hardest workouts," the company states. The housing design is complemented with SportFit silicon gel coverages, that include the ear tip and the support fin at the top, and are available with three different ear sizes. These silicone accessories also contribute to an effective passive noise-isolation.
In terms of sound, one of the very few features were consumer electronics manufacturers are able to differentiate these type of products, Jaybird opted for the "personalization" angle, complementing the 6mm dynamic drivers with a custom app, which is able to perform Personal EQ function tests of the user's hearing and create an ideal sound profile. "Sound is a personal experience. Some people prefer more bass to get their adrenaline pumping on race day, and others want richer vocals for podcasts during endless training runs," they rightfully comment. What is not included is the support for high quality codecs, something that apparently the designers thought would not be valued by "athletes."
Featuring what the company calls "JBS1 wireless technology," the new VISTA TWS model offers a reliable Bluetooth 5, Class 2 (10 meters range) connection to any supporting iOS or Android device, stereo phone calls and independent right/left bud use with no video latency. The earbuds also support access to Siri or Google Assistant voice personal assistances with a quick touch of a button.
The Jaybird VISTA Totally Wireless Sport Headphones are available now in Black at jaybirdsport.com and select internet retailers for a suggested retail price of $179.99, and are expected to be available in select retail stores in August 2019. Two additional colors, Nimbus Gray and Mineral Blue, are expected to be available in the fall 2019.
