Pro Audio and AV Return to Las Vegas for InfoComm 2016
InfoComm 2016 will be the largest, most exciting event in the United States focused on the pro-AV industry, with more than 1000 exhibitors, thousands of products, and 40,000 attendees from 108+ countries. The InfoComm show is a once-a-year opportunity to see the latest audiovisual technology, grow professional networks and, for many professionals, a unique opportunity to learn new skills and advance their career with more training and certification opportunities.

At InfoComm 2016, the audio focus will be reinforced. InfoComm is already North America’s largest pro-audio show with over 250 leading exhibitors of all facets of audio technology solutions for both live events and fixed installations. On the dedicated Audio Pavilion visitors can find loudspeakers, amplifiers, mixers, microphones, headphones, headsets, signal processing, wireless equipment, sound reinforcement systems, distributed audio and paging solutions, among many other product areas.

A unique aspect of InfoComm shows are the quality Audio Demo Rooms, which are available Tuesday to Friday (starting at 11 a.m, one day prior to the show’s opening), a unique opportunity to hear the latest products from all the main audio manufacturers and attend technology presentations with practical demos. Audio Demo Rooms are open Tuesday through Friday. Manufacturers hosting an Audio Demo Room at InfoComm 2016 include Alcons Audio, American Music & Sound (Vue Audiotechnik), Bosch  (Electro-Voice), Community, d&b audiotechnik, D.A.S. Audio, Danley Sound Labs, Harman, L-Acoustics, Martin Audio, Meyer Sound, Music Group, Pioneer, PreSonus, QSC, RCF, Renkus-Heinz, SLS Audio, and Yamaha.
Audio Demo Rooms are located in the North Hall of the Convention Center.
Also, before the show opens, InfoComm promotes the traditional Super Tuesday with opportunities to tour the University of Las Vegas, and a complete session schedule from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., including IoT Insights (a new program about pro AV and the Internet of Things), Project Management for Live Events (with Andre LeJeubbe, CTS; a must for live events pros), ending the day with the opening keynote (4 p.m.) by Stephen Dubner of Freakonomics fame. He’ll talk about how emerging technologies change the behavior of the people who use them. The keynote will be followed by an Opening Reception with for food, drinks, and more networking. Both opening events will be in the Westgate, attached to the LVCC (Paradise Event Center North and South, respectively.

The show floor opens on Wednesday and it will be another important day for audio training sessions. The morning starts with Principles of Live Mixing (8 a.m to 10 a.m.) with Buford Jones, followed by Choosing the Right Loudspeaker for the Application (10:30 a.m. to 12 noon) and Audio for Conferencing (2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.). More sessions throughout the day and every day of the show. The Seminar Package includes more than 80+ InfoComm University seminars and workshops on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Check the full comprehensive schedule.
Also on Wednesday, there’s InfoComm’s first-ever Live, Loud & Local networking event at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. A behind-the-scenes look at the Cosmo’s newest technology, followed by a reception at the Chandelier Bar.

Among the areas worth visiting are the Internet of Things (IoT) Education Program and Pavilion; the popular Digital Signage Summit; the Live Events Experience with hands-on activities for live events pros, including IATSE’s Rigging Safety Demos; the CTS Holder Lunch and Learn; and the Food Truck and Beer Garden, available Wednesday-Friday with a wide variety of lunch options in a climate-controlled tent, right outside the LVCC in the parking lot.

The Internet of Things will make its presence felt at InfoComm 2016. InfoComm 2016 will feature a pavilion on the show floor devoted to IoT technologies and solutions. From networked devices to advanced sensors, IoT technologies enable smarter spaces for collaboration, entertainment and more. Everything from digital signage to conferencing can benefit from the intelligence that is inherent to IoT solutions.

“The Internet of Things is changing the way organizations operate,” said Jason McGraw, CTS, CAE, Senior Vice President of Expositions, InfoComm International.” AV professionals have had a front-row seat to the rise of IoT, starting back when the first network port appeared on an AV device to help streamline management and control. Now, with the wealth of actionable data that the IoT generates, they are in a unique position to create new solutions that digitalize processes and enhance users’ experience of audiovisual and communications systems. InfoComm 2016 in June will be the place to learn about the intersection of pro AV and IoT.”

InfoComm 2016 organizers are making it easier for attendees to sample InfoComm 2016’s diverse education offerings by making the majority of the program available for one price. For the first time, attendees can pay one price for access to more than 90 sessions and workshops — each worth CTS renewal units — rather than register for sessions individually. For only $189 ($279 for non-InfoComm members) AV professionals can attend any seminar or workshop offered Wed. to Fri., excluding manufacturer training, tours or labs. If a conflict arises, or a different session catches the eye, they can simply attend a different session.

The third book in the series, Think Like a Freak, was published in 2014 and immediately took up a long residency near the top of international bestseller lists. In 2015, marking the 10-year anniversary of this phenomenal series, When to Rob a Bank was published as a collection of the most popular Freakonomics blog posts.

Speaking to the commercial audiovisual industry at InfoComm 2016, Dubner will talk about how emerging communication technologies are changing the behavior of the people that use them. Dubner will explain what this behavior can tell the industry about the kinds of problems that can and can’t be solved by communication technology applications. What business opportunities can be created by these behaviors, and conversely, what false assumptions should be avoided in promoting new technologies?
