QSC Expands AcousticDesign Series with New AD-S402T Column Speaker

During InfoComm 2019, QSC introduced an extension to its AcousticDesign column surface-mount loudspeaker series with the new AD-S402T model. The column uses four weather-treaded 2.5-inch transducers and is capable of 70 V / 100 V or 8 ohm bypass loads, making it highly optimized for delivering high quality sound performance within challenging acoustic environments. Innovative acoustics and unique mounting solutions meet the needs of reverberant and other architecturally complex spaces.

The AcousticDesign Series AD-S402T is a 4-driver (2.5 in, 63.5 mm) column surface-mount loudspeaker, designed to be a premium full-range system, ideal for a wide variety of foreground and background applications. Equipped with a unique pan/tilt mounting system, the column surface-mount loudspeakers offer multiple positioning locations allowing the loudspeaker to remain close to the wall while delivering up to -20° downward tilt.

The rugged aluminum columns are available in white (RAL 9010) or black (RAL 9011), both the enclosure and grille are paintable, and UV inhibitors are applied in all white models. The AD-S402T is IP-54 rated for dust and splash resistance, using a powder-coated grille, weather-treated paper cone woofers and a sealable input weather cup that keeps moisture away from wiring. QSC supplies complete EASE, CLF, CAD & BIM information.

“Column loudspeakers are ideal for highly reverberant rooms or rooms with high ceilings that need a narrow vertical beam directed toward the ear of the listener,” says Travis Nie, Product Manager, Installed Loudspeakers, QSC. “In addition, they provide a more aesthetically pleasing look and blend with any environment. We designed the AcousticDesign Series column loudspeakers to address these needs while providing a more consistent listening experience with improved speech intelligibility.”

Each of the three AD Series column loudspeakers in this line (including the existing 8-driver and 16-driver models) feature Progressive Taper Topology (PTT), which provides a virtual curve for more precise directivity control, allowing integrators to achieve better audio performance. In addition, the entire line includes an intuitive and unique mounting system with simple pan-and-tilt positioning, greatly reducing the amount of live load time and allowing for an easier and more time-efficient installation.

The AcousticDesign Series loudspeakers offer a wide variety of sizes and enclosure types including SUB/SAT, surface-mount, pendant-mount, and ceiling-mount. All models in this broad portfolio provide consistent, balanced sonic characteristics, and share the same superior aesthetics enabling users to mix-and-match from wide variety of enclosure types.
