Sonos continues to expand its lifestyle and brand-awareness global marketing strategy by establishing a collaboration with Danish design brand HAY. The collaboration has resulted in the announcement of five exclusive Sonos One colorways already available for purchase. According to Sonos, the new series “perfectly blends modern design and a great sound experience for any home.” It also refreshes the original Sonos One model launched a year ago, and recently updated to add AirPlay 2 and Siri support, adding to the Amazon Alexa, and Google Assistant voice control options.

First shown at Salone del Mobile in Milan, the full HAY Sonos One Limited Edition collection includes speakers in Forest Green, Pale Yellow, Soft Pink, Light Grey and Vibrant Red finishes, which Sonos says are the result of “a mutual commitment to creating accessible, contemporary products with an eye for modern living and sophisticated industrial manufacturing,” that blends “modern design objects and a great sound experience seamlessly into any home.”

“At HAY, no two products are the same. I believe each object has its own set of colors: a chair, a toothbrush, or a piece of porcelain can’t have the same colors, yet they can still complement each other. For the Sonos range, we were inspired by our daily home life. We wanted to create colors that were for everyone,” says Mette Hay, Co-founder HAY.

“The yellow relates to kitchens and bathrooms that are often kept light and complemented with stainless steel and porcelain. The green hues are meant to remind viewers of pots or plants sitting by windows. The light grey is for everyone. It was important to find the right shade — one that suits both workspaces, homes, and different looks with its neutral tone. Pink is the color we feel closely connected to in fashion – we feel that all things pink create a special desire right now. The iconic red was the final color I chose for the collection, as it creates such an important accent with regards to furniture.”

The latest version of Sonos One speakers (and successor of the Play:1) has been available since October 2017 and is the most compact and affordable of the multi-room wireless speaker options from the Californian brand, a voice-controlled smart speaker capable of supporting multiple voice services and audio content from more than 80 streaming services. Sonos One was launched with Amazon Alexa support, and Google Assistant in 2018, and additional free software updates have added Apple AirPlay 2 and Siri support.

“The fundamental goal at Sonos is to give our customers an amazing listening experience. Our product design philosophy focuses on achieving the elegant integration of domestic life and sound design. We strive toward this goal without compromising on acoustics, connectivity, or the listener experience. Our speakers aren’t designed to claim attention, they are designed to sound fantastic and blend naturally into their surroundings. With HAY, we’ve been able to take this integration to another level, fitting our speakers to different settings within the HAY home,” explains Tad Toulis, VP Design, Sonos.

Priced at USD $229, the HAY Sonos One models are available online at sonos.com, at Sonos Store NYC, as well as the HAY.com in North America and select cultural retailers worldwide.
