Tascam Launches TH-07 High-Definition Monitoring Headphones

December 4 2018, 00:50
Since TEAC and Tascam have returned from the dead, miraculously surviving the debacle of Gibson's bankruptcy, it seems there's a new sense of focus and inspiration in those great brands. After launching the fantastic Model 24 Digital Multitrack Recorder, a flashback into the glory days of Tascam, now with an integrated USB audio interface in a sexy analog mixer, the brand announces its TH-07 High Definition Headphone Monitors to match.

The new Tascam TH-07 headphones are intended to duplicate the audio quality of high-end near field monitors, according to the brand. With an extremely familiar profile and design, the TH-07 headphones have been tuned for full but natural bass, flat mid-range, and clear high end and are suitable for mixing, monitoring, or any audio task demanding outstanding quality. The new headphones employ custom-made 50 mm drivers and offer a wide 10 Hz to 30 kHz frequency response and sensitivity of 100 dB ±3 dB. Their closed-back design also allows an extended bass response while blocking out most external noise. The earcups can be rotated and angled for maximum flexibility and easy one-ear monitoring and still provide substantial isolation from sounds in the outside world.

With its circumaural design and earcups of soft, pliable leather that fit snugly over the ear, the TH-07s remain comfortable over long sessions, even when wearing eyeglasses - which more and more audio engineers have to wear these days of working all day and many nights looking at glowing screens.

As recommended for professional environments, the Tascam TH-07 headphones come with two detachable cables. One cable is coiled and shorter for low-clutter, short-distance work and has a 1/8-inch connector; the other is straight and longer (approximately 8½ feet) and has a multi-connector that accommodates both 1/8-inch and 1/4-inch jacks. Both cables have gold-plated connectors. A leather bag with a pull-tie closure protects the headphones when they are being transported or not in use. Pricing to be confirmed, but they of course very affordable, in the best Tascam tradition.
