Workshop Offers Unique Insights Into Waves Nx: The Interoperable Binaural Renderer

August 24 2019, 01:10
During the Audio Engineering Society’s second International Conference on Headphone Technology (August 27–29, 2019) in San Francisco, Waves Audio will provide a behind-the-scenes look into Waves Nx and licensing opportunities. Waves Nx is a unique binaural rendering technology designed for professional engineers and ported for consumer product integration. Waves Nx features head-tracking and room emulation, including a new, digital twin of a renowned acoustic space.

The Audio Engineering Society’s second International Conference on Headphone Technology takes place in San Francisco at the Golden Gate Club. Aside from the small exhibits by the event’s sponsors, the core of the conference is in the papers, poster sessions, and valuable workshops. Included in this year's program, on Wednesday 28 (11:15am), Adam Levenson, Senior Director of Business Development & Marketing, Consumer Electronics Division at Waves Audio will present a workshop detailing the development, implementations and opportunities involved with the unique technology developed by Waves Audio.

Waves Nx renders a spatial audio experience without relying on standards, metadata, delivery formats, container formats, or Codecs. Originally designed as a headphone solution for audio professionals, Nx swaps-out noisy filters and coloration for spatialization that preserves fidelity. In addition to highly responsive head-tracking that anchors the sound source relative to head orientation, the keystone of Nx is room emulation.

Called externalization, combining multichannel or ambisonic binaural rendering with the acoustic characteristics of real spaces achieved through venue modeling delivers a speaker-like, expanded field listening experience.

Join the Waves Nx team at the AES Headphone for a workshop featuring an overview of the Waves Nx technology, interactive demos, a behind-the-scenes look at modeling a renowned studio, and insight into reproducing acoustic spaces through the Nx spatial renderer.

The workshop aims to provide attendees all the relevant information to inspire developers to implement new pro audio and consumer products, providing unique insights into the functionality of this spatial audio technology and an opportunity to interact with the Waves Nx team leaders including Q&A and interactive demo materials.
