Bose Announces Frames, a New Wearable and Audio Augmented Reality Platform

Following an earlier presentation at SXSW 2018, of the new Bose AR, the company's concept for an audio augmented reality platform, in the shape of glasses to hear, the Massachusetts company now announced Frames, a product combining the protection and style of premium sunglasses, the functionality and performance of wireless headphones, and the world’s first audio augmented reality platform, combined into a single product. And Bose intends to develop a family of dedicated augmented reality apps for Frames.

The latest globcon beta, released at the same time, also introduces source selection (Auto/Manual) and MIDI triggering to EARS, the automatic input switching function of the EXBOX.MD, upgrading and completing this unique feature of the audio networking device.

Western Digital Announces Plans to Open Source New RISC-V SweRV Core to Accelerate RISC-V Processor Development

During the RISC-V Summit, in Santa Clara, CA, Western Digital announced three new open-source innovations designed to support Western Digital’s internal RISC-V development efforts and those of the growing RISC-V ecosystem. In his keynote address, Western Digital’s Chief Technology Officer Martin Fink unveiled plans to release a new open source RISC-V core, an open standard initiative for cache coherent memory over a network and an open source RISC-V instruction set simulator.

Demonstrations took place during RISC-V Summit (Dec. 4-5) to show size, power and performance benefits of integrating PolarFire SoC's Hard CPU Subsystem with Programmable Logic.
