CEDIA 2019 Show Report: Residential Integration in the Age of the Connected Home

While I visited the exhibits at the excellent Colorado Convention Center during the 2019 CEDIA Expo in Denver, I was frequently asked about my impressions of the show - but often it was as if people were asking me to validate their own negative impressions - because "this industry has seen better days...", and "the show is smaller than ever." I saw the show in a different perspective, which I will address in this report.

Just Add Power (J+P) announced its technology line up for CEDIA Expo 2019 (September 12-14). At Booth 1817, the company will highlight a range of solutions designed to simplify multiroom video installations for the residential market. These solutions will include the 3G+ 767DSS Dante Enhanced Sound System transmitter — showing for the first time at CEDIA — and the new Warp Engine transmitter/receiver, Instant Install application, and slim two-gang HDMI wall plate, all of which will be making their world debut.

Audinate and NXP Semiconductors have collaborated to introduce a new reference design kit for the popular NXP i.MX 8M Mini QuadLite SoC – providing Dante audio-over-IP to OEMs as on-chip software. Following the announced shift from purpose-built hardware to software-based solutions running on standardized hardware, and a similar agreement to supply software running on Linux for x86 and ARM processors, Audinate now extends the support to NXP’s i.MX 8M processors.
