Over the course of three days and two nights, June 8–10, the Audio Engineering Society’s 2022 International Automotive Audio Conference in Dearborn, MI, served as a great event for everyone in the automotive audio community to reconnect. The event also featured a full track of sessions promoted by the AES Audio Product Education Institute (APEI). This report, written by Roger Shively, the AES Conference Chair, reviews the most important presentations topics discussed and the exciting demonstrations by companies such as Dolby, Fraunhofer, Dirac, Tymphany, and DSP Concepts, among many others.

New COMSOL Multiphysics Version 6.1 Reinforces Transducer Design for Audio Products

COMSOL announced the release of the latest version of its modeling and simulation software. COMSOL Multiphysics version 6.1 including expanded capabilities in Fluid and Mechanical Simulations. The Acoustics Module in version 6.1 includes several important new possibilities for electroacoustic simulations, including acoustic streaming, and lumped speaker boundary conditions for thermoviscous acoustics.

COMSOL announced a major update to the COMSOL Multiphysics software version 6.0. The update builds out the Model Manager server with a web interface, adding an asset management system to make it easier for COMSOL users to manage models, simulation apps, and supplementary auxiliary files. The new COMSOL Model Manager interface combines all elements of product and process design to facilitate collaboration.
