Schiit Audio announced the immediate availability of its Unison USB input for all of its upgradable DACs (Bifrost, Gungnir, and Yggdrasil.) Unison USB is Schiit's unique, proprietary USB input that is the result of 2 person-years of development, running on a general-purpose Microchip microprocessor. According to Schiit, the new Unison USB board provides superior performance at very low current draw from the host, as well as complete electromagnetic and electrostatic isolation.

Microchip introduced the new BM83 SoC, a Bluetooth 5.0 certified dual-mode audio module that contains an on-board Bluetooth stack and audio profiles and supports 24-bit/96kHz high-resolution audio formats to enable high-fidelity wireless audio, including support for Sony’s high fidelity LDAC codec. The combined solution is intended for both new speaker and headphone designs, offering differentiated features.

New RISC-V SoC FPGA Architecture Supports Real-Time Linux Development

Microchip Technology, via its Microsemi Corporation subsidiary, extended its Mi-V ecosystem by unveiling the architecture for a new class of SoC FPGAs that combine the industry's lowest power mid-range PolarFire FPGA family with a complete microprocessor subsystem based on the open, royalty-free RISC-V instruction set architecture (ISA). Demonstrations took place during RISC-V Summit (Dec. 4-5) to show size, power and performance benefits of integrating PolarFire SoC's Hard CPU Subsystem with Programmable Logic.
