NXP to Acquire Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Connectivity Assets from Marvell

NXP Semiconductors N.V. announced that its wholly owned subsidiary has entered into a definitive agreement with Marvell to acquire Marvell’s Wireless Connectivity portfolio in an all-cash, asset transaction valued at $1.76 billion. The acquisition encompasses Marvell’s Wi-Fi Connectivity Business Unit, Bluetooth technology portfolio and related assets. NXP expects the acquisition to create new revenue opportunities in its target end markets, including connected devices, automotive and communication infrastructure applications.

Murata Announces Lowest Power Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5 Combo Module for Portable Audio Applications

Murata has collaborated with Cypress Semiconductor to develop the Type 1LV (CYW43012) solution that the company states is the lowest power, small form factor Wi-Fi and Bluetooth module currently available. This product improves battery life in wearables, smart home products, and portable audio applications. When comparing Type 1LV (CYW43012) to the previous Type 1DX (CYW4343W) solution, power usage is approximately 54 percent lower in DTIM 1, 60 percent in DTIM 3, up to 50 percent for 2.4 GHz RX, and 28 percent for 2.4 GHz TX.

Amazon and eero announced that they have entered into a definitive merger agreement under which Amazon will acquire eero, a company that offers products and services for high-performing, simple home mesh WiFi systems. Eero's products have been available since 2017 and basically blanket every room of a home with high-performing WiFi, earning a 4.6-star product rating on Amazon.com.
