Xperi Announces New Effort to Promote DTS Play-Fi in Home Theater Market

DTS, now a wholly-owned subsidiary of Xperi Holding Corporation, announced the intention to revitalize its proprietary DTS Play-Fi wireless audio platform in order to promote wireless surround sound as an alternative to the Wireless Speaker and Audio Association (WiSA) technology being adopted in mainstream consumer electronics. While Qualcomm has long forgotten about its AllPlay wireless audio solution, DTS believes there is still an opportunity to compete with WiSA.

WiSA Introduces WiSA SoundSend Certified Program for TV Manufacturers

WiSA LLC, the Wireless Speaker and Audio Association founded by Summit Wireless Technologies, announced the launch of its WiSA SoundSend Certified program, a new certification initiative developed to work with TV manufacturers to ensure simple connection and interoperability with the WiSA SoundSend wireless audio transmitter. Toshiba is the first TV brand to deliver a Certified Product Family. WiSA also announced the launch of its own custom branded Amazon Storefront.

Sound Sphere is Onkyo’s first WiSA Certified audio system, delivering wireless, cinema-quality sound to the Japanese market and is bundled with the WiSA SoundSend wireless audio transmitter. The company promotes the solution touting the hi-res (24-bit/96kHz) wireless audio qualities and convenience for smaller homes.

Designed to be placed anywhere in a room, the slim Beolab 28 allows for a simple setup, that can be configured as an elegant pair of stereo or multiroom loudspeakers, built to stream anything instantly. Combined with a TV, they are to deliver big cinematic sound.

Lithe Audio Launches First WiSA Certified Dolby Atmos Ceiling Speakers

The Wireless Speaker and Audio Association (WiSA), founded by Summit Wireless Technologies, confirmed the launch of the new Lithe Audio’s WiSA Certified Pro Series in-ceiling speaker. The new Pro Series speaker from the British brand was unveiled earlier in November 2020, and is aimed firmly at the custom installation market. It also represents WiSA’s first certified speaker in the installation space, available April 2021 and priced at approximately $950 USD.

Enclave Audio Now Shipping Add-on Subwoofers for CineHome Wireless Audio Systems

Enclave Audio, the Californian manufacturer of immersive wireless audio systems for home entertainment environments, announced it is now shipping add-on wireless subwoofers for its CineHome II and THX Certified CineHome PRO wireless home theater systems. This includes additional 8" wireless subwoofers available for CineHome II systems and 10" models for CineHome PRO systems. Both CineHome systems support up to four (4!) wireless subwoofers to enable configurations of up to 5.4 channels.
