Lavoce Italiana offers a full range of HF and LF transducers for professional audio, and a full catalog of guitar and bass speakers for the MI market. Its Italian R&D Center is based in Potenza Picena, Macerata, and all products are manufactured at their wholly owned modern production facility near Shanghai.

New 1" Annular Compression Drivers and Common HF/LF Magnet Coaxials from Lavoce

At ISE 2023, Lavoce Italiana announced the launch of their first 1" exit annular diaphragm design compression drivers, DN10.143 and DF10.143. During the Barcelona show the company also presented their new 6.5" ferrite common HF/LF magnet coaxial, CSF061.71K. In 2022, the company with a 35-year heritage designing and manufacturing loudspeakers reported the highest growth rates since its inception, and 2023 is already looking even stronger.

This Test Bench characterizes the 6CXN36 6.5" coincident coax transducer, a professional audio driver from Italian manufacturer B&C Speakers and fairly similar to the company's 5.25” 5CXN44 reviewed in Voice Coil, August 2021, which uses a nearly identical compression driver. The cooling for the 6CXN36 is exclusively provided by the motor mass, which is substantial, and no vents are required for the impressive 200W continuous power handling rating in a small diameter driver such as this.

This article is a detailed characterization of the HF1460 1.4" exit neodymium motor compression driver from Faital Pro, oriented toward pro audio applications. The Faital Pro HF1460 features a carbon fiber diaphragm, which Faital Pro has been researching for some time, even before the first TeXtreme products were available in the market. The horn supplied for use with the HF1460 was the LTH142, an injection-molded, elliptical tractrix flare horn, with a 60° x 50° coverage pattern. Harman announced the new JBL 4329P Studio Monitors at CES 2023. This completely self-contained, connected, active loudspeaker combines high-resolution audio streaming with extensive wired and wireless connectivity options, while still retaining the design principles that make the JBL Studio Monitor models a classic. Expanding its Classic Series, JBL also launched the L10cs Powered Subwoofer, a downfiring design featuring real-wood veneers.

Test Bench: B&C Speakers DE111‑8 1” Pro Sound Compression Driver

This is a characterization of the DE111-8 pro audio high-frequency solution and corresponding ME10v2 horn from B&C Speakers. The ultra-compact neodymium 1" compression driver features an HT Polymer diaphragm driven by a 1.4" diameter voice coil, an updated Ketone polymer suspension and dome, rated for 50W continuous power handling and 2.83V/1m 107dB sensitivity.
