Mesanovic CDM65 Studio Monitor Speaker Earns WiSA HT Interoperability Certification

WiSA Association announced that its member company Mesanovic has earned the WiSA HT Interoperability Certification with its new CDM65 Controlled Directivity Monitor speaker. The CDM65 is an active three-way state-of-the-art speaker design, with built-in digital signal processing and the ability to receive wireless audio from any WiSA transmitter, like the WiSA SoundSend. This allows the CDM65 to be paired up to a 7.1 setup. The system will ship in May 2023 and is available for pre-order.

Alcons Extends Evolutionary Pro-Ribbon Range With New QRP40 Pro-Ribbon Point-Source Column

The new QRP40/90 from Dutch Pro-Ribbon pioneers Alcons Audio is a 2-way point-source column system with high-Q directivity for increased projection control. The new slim design is to be used as a vertical sound system, for both permanent and portable applications, and packs a 1:1 non-compressed linear sound reproduction, with up to 90% less distortion. Just one of several products that Alcons will demonstrate at the ISE 2023 show in Barcelona.

In this article, the authors share their research on new requirements for the measurement of in-wall installation speakers. The directional characteristics are an especially important factor, because the direction in which a loudspeaker emits sound highly affects the interaction with the listening room and the listening experience. The authors' research addressed the requirement using holographic directivity to address the way the directional characteristics interact with the listening room. Japanese company AFUR has announced the launch of Parso, a wireless, wearable, unidirectional speaker design that "only you can hear." The highly directional speaker uses ultrasonic elements to achieve its narrow directivity for personal listening. The new Wearable Parametric Speaker (Patent Pending) design is scheduled to enter production in mid 2022, but the company is promoting the concept to evaluate market interest in new application areas.

MSE Audio Now Shipping Updated SoundTube LA880i-II and LA808i-II Line Array Speakers

MSE Audio announced an updated aluminum casing to SoundTube's LA880i-II and LA808i-II line array speakers. The first is an advanced Line Array-Point Source 3-way design that provides a very short near-field extent and robust far-field performance, while the LA808i-II is designed to increase the directivity of low frequencies in a combined system. While there are no acoustic changes, the speakers now come with aluminum cabinets for a contemporary look and cleaner aesthetic.

Klippel released a major software update to its Klippel Analyzer System. The new dB-Lab Version 212 and QC 7 updates now add shared sensor management, support for the new Multi-Scanning Workbench hardware and three further modules (LSIM, MTON, RMA). The Klippel Multi-Scanning Workbench supports near-field holographic soundfield scanning measurements in a much smaller form factor, while the new modules add linear signal modeling and simulation and multi-tone measurements, dedicated to speaker and enclosure design.
