Renesas and Cyberon Partner to Deliver Integrated Voice User Interface Solutions Supporting Over 40 Global Languages

Renesas Electronics, the advanced semiconductor solutions supplier, and Cyberon, a leading embedded speech solution provider, have partnered to deliver voice user interface (VUI) solutions using Renesas’ entire RA MCU line. Renesas RA customers will now have complimentary access to Cyberon’s industry-leading continuous command-based VUI toolchain, enabling them to add voice-recognition to a variety of endpoint applications, including home appliances and wearables.

CUI Devices' Audio Group announced the addition of two new digital I2S output models to its comprehensive line of MEMS microphones. The bottom port CMM-3526D-261-I2S-TR and top port CMM-4030D-261-I2S-TR are housed in extremely compact, low profile packages measuring 3.50 x 2.65 x 0.98 mm and 4.00 x 3.00 x 1.25 mm, respectively. Thanks to their digital I2S interface, these MEMS microphones eliminate the need for a codec, allowing for the microphones to connect directly to digital signal processors and microcontrollers in an end application.

Renesas Electronics announced sample shipment availability of the new RYZ012 Bluetooth module targeting ultra-low power applications in connected devices. The RYZ012 is Renesas' first Bluetooth Low Energy 5 module. It integrates a 2.4 GHz RF transceiver supporting the IEEE802.15.4 multi-standard wireless protocol, Bluetooth Low Energy (LE), Bluetooth LE Mesh, and ZigBee. The RYZ012 features a power draw of only 0.4µA during deep sleep (without SRAM retention) allowing developers to extend battery life.

While the audio industry has focused on hearables, some companies are exploring embedded wearables. Sonitus Technologies has been focusing on military communication NFMI applications, trying to embed the same features of a two-way wireless communications system that can be used undetected, even under the most harsh environments. The company's “Molar Mic” fits a miniaturized headset into a device that clips to a user’s back teeth, and is now available as a Bluetooth-compatible solution for high-noise commercial markets.
