Røde Acquires Mackie in $120 Million US Deal

Røde Microphones has announced the acquisition of iconic American pro audio company Mackie from Transom Capital, the Los Angeles-based private equity firm. For Peter Freedman, the founder of Røde, this acquisition represents an opportunity to expand its strategy to the complete audio production ecosystem and get hold of another (still) valuable brand. With the acquisition, Røde also gets Danny Olesh, Mackie's CTO and former founder of SM Pro Audio, based in Australia.

Røde has unveiled the RødeCaster Pro II, a fully integrated audio production studio for all content creators. Calling it "its most revolutionary audio innovation to date," the RødeCaster Pro II is not only an update of the company's best-selling, original design, it is a completely new design that expands the concept with groundbreaking new features and creates an even more powerful and appealing all-in-one audio solution for streamers, podcasters, musicians, and all content creators.

Røde has entered the headphone category with the NTH-100 professional over-ear headphones. The Australian company has invested a lot of time and R&D resources to enter this competitive market, and its first headphones are a refined attempt to hit the sweet spot in pro audio applications, particularly for home studio, podcasting or web streaming. A completely original design with very high quality details and superior comfort, the NTH-100 headphones are set to become a new industry favorite.

Freedman Electronics has today announced the appointment of former Australian politician, Federal Treasurer of Australia, and Australian Ambassador to the United States, the "Honourable" Joe Hockey to its Board of Directors. Hockey joins Røde Founder and Chairman Peter Freedman on the newly established Board. Røde Microphones designs and manufactures microphones and related accessories primarily in Sydney, Australia and exports to 118 countries globally. Australian pro audio giant, Røde Microphones has launched the RØDECaster Pro, a fully integrated podcast production studio that fits nicely with the brand's microphone portfolio and includes audio processing technology from Aphex, the famous US audio company which the Freedman Group acquired in 2015. This is the first time that assets from Aphex make an appearance since the acquisition and the synergy couldn't be stronger, given the legendary reputation of the Aphex Exciter and Big Bottom patented processing technology for radio applications.

Australian pro audio giant The Freedman Group – home to RØDE Microphones – announced the appointment of legendary audio innovator Chris Woolf as a Senior Innovation Engineer, exclusive to RØDE. Formerly a Senior Engineer for the windshield and microphone accessories company Rycote, Chris Woolf is the inventor of, amongst many other patented noise-reduction solutions, the Rycote Lyre shock-mount and the Rycote Cyclone Windshield system.
