Chord Electronics Launches Mojo 2 Portable DAC/Headphone Amplifier

British hifi audio brand Chord Electronics has launched Mojo 2, the replacement for the genre-defining original portable DAC/headphone amplifier for the most demanding, high-resolution music enthusiasts. Expanding the possibilities of the original, the new Mojo 2 benefits from a new lossless DSP and a new dedicated sphere and menu system to control the new DSP features. It also offers a new USB-C data input, better battery/charging, improved proprietary WTA filter, improved noise-shaper, and improved 4e Pulse Array DAC.

Chord Electronics introduced five new products at The Bristol Hi-Fi Show 2020, including the new ULTIMA PRE 2 preamp, ULTIMA 5 and ULTIMA 6 stereo power amps, plus the new 2go streamer/server and 2yu digital interface. Making its European debut, the new 2go streamer/server adds both Ethernet and wireless streaming, plus 4 TB of microSD card storage to Chord's Hugo 2 DAC/pre/headphone amp. The 2yu digital interface turns the 2go device into a standalone streamer.

While many in the audio industry still question the merits of recordings that are actually produced with native 24-bit at 96kHz or more, and defend the merits of the CD Red Book original specifications, Chord Electronics has just unveiled the Hugo M Scaler, a device that very few would have think they would even need. The new device uses powerful custom-coded FPGA to upscale 44.1kHz digital audio to 705.6kHz; or 16x CD’s 44.1kHz native resolution!

During the High End 2015 show in Munich, Germany, British high-end audio manufacturer Chord Electronics introduced what the company proudly calls “the world’s most advanced digital to analogue convertor”. Given the acronym DAVE, the $12,500 (£7,995) unit integrates a reference-grade DAC, digital preamp and headphone amplifier.
