LG Introduces 2023 Home Entertainment Wireless Soundbars With Immersive Audio and MQA Support

At CES 2023, LG product unveilings included two new Wi-Fi-enabled soundbars, both of which support MQA. Designed to work in harmony with LG’s latest OLED TVs, the SC9 and SE6 models support MQA and Tidal Connect, meaning Tidal members can stream Tidal Masters – at the highest quality – over Wi-Fi to the new LG soundbars. Selected existing soundbars are also MQA-capable via a software upgrade, these include high-end models such as the S95, S90 and S80 series released last year.

LG Electronics (LG) unveiled a new speaker solution specifically for gaming, which may signal the onset of a new headset-free design, with large potential for all home office applications. The new LG UltraGear Gaming Speaker (model GP9) was designed to be a companion to LG’s premium UltraGear gaming monitors, with game-optimized sound. But the technical specs reveal a whole lot more, making it a very interesting speaker/sound system.

Expanding on its collaboration with Meridian Audio, LG Electronics will introduce at CES 2020 an impressive lineup of soundbars featuring premium quality audio, easy connectivity, smart functionality and sleek designs that integrate perfectly with LG's latest OLED and NanoCell TVs. The new 2020 soundbar lineup supports high-resolution audio (HRA) sources and immersive sound formats including Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, while some models also offer advanced self-calibration.

LG Electronics (LG) and Meridian Audio have announced a partnership on the development of new consumer audio products. The first results of the partnership will be presented at CES 2018, and include a Dolby Atmos soundbar, portable speakers, and the LG ThinQ smart speaker, featuring Google Assistant voice recognition. LG wants to combine its consumer electronics expertise with Meridian’s audio technologies to deliver "high-performance audio to more people across the world."

With the audio industry and consumer electronic companies pushing the high-resolution audio concept further, Qualcomm is determined to promote the message that consumers don't have to trade quality for convenience when it comes to wireless streaming, thanks to its aptX HD audio technology. At the IFA 2017 show in Berlin, Qualcomm announced that the aptX HD audio ecosystem is expanding rapidly.
