OPPO Unveils 12Mbps Data Rate Bluetooth Wireless Audio SoC at MWC 2023

On the opening day of Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2023 in Barcelona, OPPO announced a selection of flagship devices, new core connectivity products and technologies, as well as its latest R&D breakthroughs in chip technology. On the audio domain, OPPO promised to revolutionize the industry and leave Bluetooth limitations behind with its MariSilicon Y flagship audio SoC. A world first for Bluetooth wireless audio, the new SoC promises a 12Mbps data rate.

Handheld audio recorders were typically robust devices with buttons and tiny dot-matrix displays, which gradually evolved with bright white or yellow LCD and LED displays. Then came the iPhone and manufacturers started looking at the possibilities of multitouch high-resolution, full color screens, reducing the need for dedicated buttons and mechanical switches. The new TASCAM Portacapture X8 High Resolution Adaptive Multi-Recorder fully embraces the touchscreen, enabling more recording tracks and even more features in a single handheld design.

Following previous announcements in development platforms and solutions for wireless audio, Qualcomm announced Qualcomm Snapdragon Sound, a new end-to-end approach to promote high resolution digital audio and enhanced voice communications across devices. The approach combines and optimizes multiple Qualcomm technologies for mobile platforms, processing, connectivity, plus the latest aptX Adaptive audio technologies needed to improve the sound experience for consumers.

To enjoy music of the highest quality when on the move, a high-resolution audio player is essential – and of course good headphones. Plus, a smartphone is also needed for calls.
