AES Audio Product Education Institute Webinar Explores Automotive Immersive Audio

The AES Audio Product Education Institute (APEI), created to promote methodologies, practices and technologies involved in developing and bringing audio products to market, will present a new free webinar on its Automotive Audio education pillar, addressing “Immersive Audio in Automobiles,” on Wednesday, September 15 (12:00pm EDT). The webinar will feature presentations from Dolby Laboratories and Dirac Research detailing the technologies enabling the expansion of vehicle acoustic perceptions.

Swedish digital audio processing pioneer Dirac announced a realignment of its executive team to better position the company to take full advantage of a growing and expanding range of new business opportunities. Peter Friedrichsen joins the company as Chief Executive Officer following the decision by long-time CEO and co-founder Dr. Mathias Johansson to focus exclusively on new technologies and product development as Chief Product Officer.

Swedish sound pioneer Dirac strengthened its position as a leading one-stop source for digital audio signal processing solutions with the announcement that it has completed a new $6-million (60 MSEK) round of financing. Jonathan Forster, former Spotify executive and current angel investor, joins Dirac’s Board of Directors to help catalyze the company’s expansion into the streaming market and the launch of the company's first consumer-facing product.

Investing further in the build-out of its senior management team, Dirac Research appointed Lars Isaksson as Business Director of Augmented Reality/ Virtual Reality. The Swedish company also received extra support from new investors to, in part, accelerate its growth into the Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality markets. One of those investors, Jörgen Lantto, also joined Dirac’s Board of Directors. Meanwhile, the company was awarded a research grant from the Swedish government.
