Digigram Expands with Acquisition of Noise and Vibration Testing Systems Specialist OROS

Digigram has acquired Grenoble-based OROS, also a French company specializing in noise and vibration testing systems. This acquisition by the audio over IP solutions company expands the Digigram Group's build-up strategy focused on critical audio applications. OROS high end solutions meet the requirements and expectations of automotive, aerospace, marine energy & process, manufacturing and automation industries. The amount of the transaction has not been disclosed.

Aviation pilots and professionals working in extremely noisy environments now have access to hearing protection and communication solutions that are able to reduce noise levels by up to 55 decibels. Two Swiss startups, KeepEars and AVAtronics have announced the successful prototype test and launch of the quietest earbuds on earth, able to be used as hearing protection and communications systems in extreme noisy environments, effectively canceling signals in a wide range of frequencies.

While the audio industry has focused on hearables, some companies are exploring embedded wearables. Sonitus Technologies has been focusing on military communication NFMI applications, trying to embed the same features of a two-way wireless communications system that can be used undetected, even under the most harsh environments. The company's “Molar Mic” fits a miniaturized headset into a device that clips to a user’s back teeth, and is now available as a Bluetooth-compatible solution for high-noise commercial markets.
