Native Instruments and iZotope Announce Parent Company and Platform Soundwide

Following the announcement in March 2021 that iZotope, the Boston-based audio processing software experts, and Native Instruments, the German music creation company would form a new technology group backed by investors Francisco Partners and EMH Partners, the group now announced a new entity called Soundwide. The new company will promote a complete "audio and music creation ecosystem," will not replace any of the brands and also includes Plugin Alliance, Brainworx, and Sound Stacks as software development and distribution arms.

Native Instruments, EMH Partners, and Francisco Partners announced an agreement where the Berlin-based music creation company will sell the majority of its shares to leading technology-specialized investment firm, Francisco Partners. Both EMH Partners and the founding shareholders will remain involved with NI as significant minority shareholders. The agreement was described as necessary to support a new expansion strategy for Native Instruments.

Eplex7 DSP, a music software company from Europe specializing in emulations of classic synthesizers and analog processors, introduced a software plug-in that basically explores all the creative possibilities of a tube stage. The VD76 recreates the full audio path, based on Eplex7's analog emulation technology, combining the emulation of actual analog circuits and effects of individual components, in this case, pentodes and triodes. The result, enables adding the typical warmth and coloration effects of vintage tubes.

When we look at Adobe's portfolio of solutions, in a family of 21 core software programs, there is one for audio: Adobe Audition. Audition, used for audio recording, mixing, and restoration software, was acquired from Syntrillium Software in 2003 and was previously known as Cool Edit Pro. Recently I did an interview with Adobe's Audio Product Manager, Durin Gleaves, to understand why and how exactly the company is evolving its software using artificial intelligence and machine learning.
