Technische Universität Berlin and AFMG Publish High-Resolution EASE GLL Data for 22 Musical Instruments

Ahnert Feistel Media Group (AFMG) in cooperation with the Audio Communications department of the Technische Universität Berlin, has recently published a set of high-resolution GLL datasets for 22 musical instruments for use in EASE 5 First Edition! The data is the result of a major project which was realized by the research group that took several years to complete. Numerous musicians have been recorded playing their instruments in an anechoic chamber using a purpose-designed spherical microphone array.

It can be then rendered and used in virtual and augmented reality projects allowing users to flexibly move within a recorded scene.

Zylia continues to expand its efforts in the field of 3D audio recording and production, showing a remarkable pace of product development and innovation. The Polish startup now released the new version of ZYLIA Studio, the company's software dedicated to work with the ZM-1 spherical microphone which provides an easy workflow of multitrack recording and mixing. The desktop application for macOS, Linux and Windows gained many new features and is now more user friendly.

Zylia, the Polish company that developed the successful ZM-1 spherical microphone array, is expanding across technical and operational areas to address rapidly rising demand for the company’s innovative 3D audio recording and production solutions. Zylia has hired Maurizio Barausse as key account manager, Marek Kabacinski and Krzysztof Klos as software testers, Michal Huflejt as a research engineer, Wojtek Blachowiak as a technical customer service expert, and Lidia Wojciechowska as office manager.

Making high-resolution 360-degree recording in the field easier than ever, Polish startup Zylia introduced a Windows tablet-compatible version of its control software for the company's ZYLIA ZM-1 spherical microphone. Providing convenient tablet-based control over the ZM-1, a compact 3rd order Ambisonics microphone, gives sound engineers and musicians a lightweight and highly portable solution for capturing immersive audio in any environment.
