GreenWaves Ramps Up Production of GAP9 Hearables Platform

GreenWaves Technologies, a fabless semiconductor company based in Grenoble, France, has received the funding needed to support the production of its second-generation GAP9 processor. As demonstrated at CES 2023, this advanced AI processor revolutionizes the next generation of true wireless earbuds, hearables, and connected devices with ultra-low latency noise cancellation, neural network-based background elimination and 3D sound.

Taiwan-based semiconductor design house Sounds Great is unveiling prototypes of its Motion Microchip and Semiconductor Dynamic Speaker (SDS) solutions at CES 2022 in Las Vegas. The company's technology is the smallest speaker solution of its type, and will be presented as a 1.5x1.5mm single driver or an SDS array, enabling applications from earphones to stereo reproduction in consumer devices. In its second year at CES, the company shows a promising speaker concept with large potential for ultra low-power designs.

xMEMS Labs confirmed that its first monolithic MEMS µspeaker, Montara, is now in production. Working closely with TSMC as its semiconductor foundry partner, the Montara design has passed all required performance and reliability qualifications and has already been selected by manufacturers for future products. The Santa Clara, California-based company confirms that the Montara was already selected for an upcoming true wireless earbuds design.

Showing its importance to the CE industry as one of the world's largest advanced semiconductor manufacturers, Samsung Electronics announced the first all-in-one power management integrated circuits (PMIC), MUA01 and MUB01, optimized for True Wireless Stereo (TWS) devices. The new Samsung PMICs integrate multiple discrete components in one chip to make room for longer battery life and more efficient designs in today’s true wireless earbuds and other very low power designs.

CEVA, a licensor of signal processing platforms and artificial intelligence processors for connected devices, reinforced its leadership in the Bluetooth IP market with delivery of its RivieraWaves Bluetooth 5 dual mode IP to multiple licensees, including ASR Microelectronics, a fabless semiconductor company. ASR Micro adopted RivieraWaves Bluetooth 5 Dual Mode IP for smartphones, smart speakers, headsets and IoT Devices.
