Rayson Technology Launches Nordic-Powered Bluetooth LE Audio Module for Headphones, Speakers, and Audio Systems

Wireless communications company Rayson Technology has released a multiprotocol module based on Nordic Semiconductor’s nRF5340 System-on-Chip (SoC). The solution is designed for advanced Bluetooth LE Audio applications in consumer electronics as well as smart home. Measuring just 16.5 by 13.0 by 2.5mm, the BTM-N340X module supports LE Audio and its Low Complexity Communication Codec (LC3) for lower power wireless audio streaming applications.

Nordic Semiconductor has used the latest trade shows globally to showcase its latest low power wireless solutions, and introduced a series of new development solutions targeting Bluetooth LE Audio. At the Embedded World Exhibition that took place in Nuremberg, Germany, Nordic offered demonstrations of its new nRF5340 Audio Development Kit (DK), a design platform for rapid development of LE Audio products, and the Nordic Thingy:53 a rapid prototyping solution, both based on Nordic’s nRF5340 SoC.

A new report from Juniper Research says that the number of hearables in-use will grow to more than 970 million by 2024. This is an increase of 270% over the 260 million estimated for 2020. This updated report identifies vendors that are leveraging hearable technology to add value to premium audio products, such as Bose and Sennheiser, while technology companies are producing earbuds that incorporate sensor platforms and AI capabilities. Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) devices are forecasted to reach over 1.6 billion annual shipments by 2023 according to market research firm ABI Research. Increasing opportunities in smart home, beacons and asset tracking, emerging IoT applications, alongside growth in existing key markets and the emergence of audio over BLE will enable the technology to achieve a CAGR of 27% between 2018 and 2023, tripling in size.

Artificial intelligence (AI) and fast connectivity – critical ingredients for the next era of category leaders such as smartphones, smart home devices and smart speakers – will drive the U.S. consumer technology industry to a record-breaking $398 billion in retail revenues ($301 billion wholesale) in 2019 and 3.9 percent year-over-year (YOY) growth, which includes streaming services revenue, according to the Consumer Technology Association (CTA). A record growth anticipating the introduction of 5G smartphones and 8K TVs in 2019.

Artificial intelligence (AI), voice-recognition technology and fast connectivity – critical ingredients for smart speakers, smart home technologies and smartphones – will help spur overall U.S. consumer technology industry revenue to $377 billion in retail revenues in 2018, a six percent increase, according to the Consumer Technology Association (CTA). The mid-year update of CTA’s flagship report, U.S. Consumer Technology Sales and Forecasts, also shows whole home Wi-Fi solutions and wireless earbuds will each cross the $1 billion wholesale revenue milestone for the first time this year.
