Design for Manufacturing Audio Products – Supply Chain and Manufacturing Strategies Webinar, August 27
The Audio Product Development Alliance (APDA) is hosting a new live session focused on supply chain strategies. During this new APDA presentation, Patrik Agren, CEO of the OSM Group, will share the valuable perspective of an organization headquartered in Hong Kong, with research and development centers in Sweden, and with factories in China and the Philippines. Gain insights about manufacturing strategies, where the audio industry is headed, and the global realignment caused by US tariffs!

Blazing the Path to the First MEMS Full-Range IEM
Mike Klasco sat down with Matthew Leanse, co-founder of Singularity Industries, to hear about his R&D journey that led to the Paradox in-ear headphones. The challenges and motivations behind developing one of the first in-ears using MEMS microspeakers from xMEMS. A promising start for a new category that explores the full potential of piezoelectric MEMS microspeakers as a full-range, hi-fidelity solution.

DALI Kupid Challenges Industry as the Most Affordable HiFi Passive Loudspeaker Available in Multiple Colors
Danish Audiophile Loudspeaker Industries (DALI) is highly recognized in the high-end audio and even the global hifi community. Not so much outside those circles. Maybe that will change with the new DALI Kupid. A compact, high-performance passive loudspeaker that the company says delivers "true HiFi sound" in a premium finish, at just €338 Euros per pair. As loudspeaker companies know well, designing a new entry-point reference is much more difficult than a money-no-object flagship.

The Oakland-based vacuum tube company expanded its line-up with new-production 5U4 rectifier tubes in its Select Collection Rectifiers. Although the 5U4 aren't always top-of-mind, they’re a crucial component of tube amps for high-end audio, besides being an essential component in guitar amplifiers, prized for its ability to handle high peak currents. Select 5U4 vacuum tubes are now available from Ray Tubes' global network of retail partners.

Patent Review: Externally Coupled Loudspeaker System for a Vehicle, and an Externally Ducted Vehicle Loudspeaker
In this review, James Croft (Croft Acoustical) focuses on two patents. One granted to Harman Becker Automotive, and another granted the same year to Bose. The first describes a loudspeaker system arranged in a baffle inside a vehicle, configured to radiate an acoustical signal to the passenger compartment using an active noise control system. The second describes various implementations of “vehicle loudspeakers and related vehicle audio systems,” including the use of passive radiators.

Standardized Automotive Audio Measurements
In 2023, the Audio Engineering Society (AES) Technical Committee on Automotive Audio proposed a standardized measurement configuration for in-car audio systems. This article builds on that work, using the same configuration to make a more comprehensive suite of measurements, including seat-to-seat spectral uniformity, THD, advanced impulsive distortion, as well as creating a foundation for a much wider range of in-car measurements.

Listen Introduces New AudioConnect 8×8 Audio Measurement Interface
